Help With a Story

Hi,
I’m working on a G506 truck that I plan to put into a diorama depicting a farmer selling vegetables to a couple of women and a kid. The story is that the farmer got a good deal by buying a surplus G506, spent a bit more money to get the body, exposed framework, and the wheels painted so that the truck didn’t look like an army truck, put his farm’s name on it and now he uses it to go around town selling vegetables to city folks. The timeframe is the early to mid 1950s (in fact, when I was a kid at that time there really was a farmer that came around and sold vegetables in the neighborhood).
By doing some research, I found out that the G506 was never produced for civilian use and anyone who owned one had to get it from surplus sales. I’ve tried to find pictures of the interior but the color pics I’ve found are all of restored army vehicles or remodeled interiors with modernized seats, etc. for that cozy, comfy feel.
Anyway, my question is: Would it be wrong to depict the interior in the original khaki (or U.S. Army green) while the exterior has been repainted a different color?
Thanks,
David

Hello!
I think that would be quite normal. For a quick repaint (as opposed to a rebuild/restoration) the interior would often be left alone, because of all the hassle connected to taping off the gauges, the seats, the wiring and so on.
Good luck with your dio, have a nice day!

I would figure that’s okay as well. A farm truck is a work truck Why spend time and money on something that works just fine as is. A quick coat of paint on the outside, leave the rest as is. As things wear out or break down, you might see more civilian parts become integrated into the vehicle as needed. Farmers tend to be practical with vehicles, repair what’s needed with what you have available (if possible).

First would probably be civilian pattern tires and/or wheels, lights, mirrors etc. The interior might get some attention in terms of dash mounted fan for those hot days, but otherwise “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.
