Hi
I am building a figure of a paramedic and have some trouble painting the bright yellow reflective jacket. Can any one help me with the colors I need to use and how to get the right effect.? I tried some neon yellow acrylic paint on a light grey basecoat but the yellow is to transparent and even after 4 coats the grey still shines thru. Please help !!!

Welcome to the forum.
If you want bright colours you will need a WHITE primer, than lay down multiple thin layers of your colour.
I doub that can easily reproduce the effect of the reflective tape/colour that is used on the real thing. Maybe by adding a pit of pearl powder to the colour.
Might try adding glass beads used for bead blasting to the paint. I have been kicking this idea aound in my head for a while now, but haven’t had an opportunity to try it. Apparently ground glass is added to the paint in real life and that’s what gives it the reflective property.
thanx for the help. I used white pearl acrylic that I found in an art shop and used it as a base coat with 5 layers of the yellow flourescent paint on that . It looks good and really gives the right effect.
