Help is needed

Hey there, kind of new to this forum, but not really. I need some help in the form of parts. I was building a Tamiya Sherman. The tracks were really kinked up from the way they had be placed in the box. I tried to straighten them out using warm water. One straightened just fine. The other shrunk something awlful. The effected track will be useful on my 1/72 ESCI sherman that is how bad it shrunk. Is there a website or number I can contact Tamiya through for a replacement? Is there some generous person here who has a plethora of spare Sherman treads? Any advice or help is appreciated. Thanks Ken
Oh yeah, one more question. Is the Italeria (sp?) 1/72 Sherman the same as the ESCI sherman. I know that they share some aircraft molds and such.
Thanks again
Ken

Asuming your in the US www.tamiyausa.com there is a small charge.

Maybe someone has a spre the’d send yoy if you paid the postage

[#welcome] to the forum, Ken. We’re glad you gave us a try, even if your not really new…whatever that means!

If anyone has any spare Sherman tracks, it will probably be shermanfreak (Robert). I’m sure he’ll be in here before too long. But you might want to post which model it is so the members can check their spares for an exact match.

Welcome, again.

Bill

Yes, the latest Italeri 1/72 armor kits are all ex-Esci 1/72 scale armor kits. Hopefully they will re-release some of the old Esci M48, M60 and M113 series kits.

lol Shermanfreak probably has actuall sherman tracks welded to his car. Im not sure but If you look on the instructions or the box, there might be a replacement parts number. just a thought.

Thanks guys, I will check the website. Of course I could always go with some aftermarket tracks… Of course then I would have to update the bogie wheels. I guess then, I couldn’t really do with the kit barrel…[:p]

read ‘not new’ as semi-lurker[:D]

Hey cgarman … all welcome to the Armour Forum.

Tamiya America has a great replacement policy. So certainly give them a try. AM tracks are certainly an option. Which Tamiya Sherman were you working on, I may have a spare set of them, but it is not likely, I think I’ve used them all already.

I believe it is the esrly version. M4A1 maybe. It is there oldest sherman kit. I bought mine like a year ago and have been working in fits and spurts. It has really stalled since the track shrunk. I bought it right after FSM did their two issue sherman dealy thing-a-ma-bob awhile back. I am not at home, but will look at the kit number when I do get there. I did add sheet to fill in the bottom of the sponsons. I also added on some verlinden roadwheels and stuff to it. It is painted and awaiting final details. I do have to admit that I have gotten much further on this one than either of the Dragon kits I have started (M1A1 and MLRS).

Sounds like you have the Sherman M4. Definitely don’t have a spare set of those kicking around.

If you have no luck with Tamiya, you may have to check out the AM market. Fruilmodelismo makes Sherman, RHPS also have some, AFV Club does a few different sets.
