Hi all, that terrible addiction has got me yet again. I find that I while away hours trying to glue a miniscule doo dar onto a Atom sized whatcha call it.
The subject for this madness is a Hasagawa P40N 1/48. I saw Swanny building the earlier version on his video and that really was my impetus to start modelling again, for which im eternally gratefull.
Any hoo, heres the pit started and hopefully after a little dry brushing ill button the sides up. Thanks for looking
That’s a lotta PE! Looks great so far. I am close to finishing up my Hasegawa P-40E which I started years ago when it came out. Lots of filling and sanding on these babies.
I feel for you. Having to walk around and have everyone staring at those huge fingers with Zinc Chromate green fingernails. I hope your condition … uhh… where was I going?[%-)]
Wow thx all. I think i hit a common point with the ‘Addiction’ thingy. lol.
Come on now, one at a time…
My name is Guy and im a Photo Etch addict. You know youll feel better for saying it. We could all belong to PEA, Photo Etch Annonymous. (Gotta a ring to it)
Greg, Im no cameraman by any length of the imagination. The camera i use is SWMBOed’s Fuji Finepix A340. I just hit the Macro button and focus. Easy peasy.
I was going to post some pics of the pit in place but Photobucket is down. Maybe later.
Cheers all again and hope you all had a good weekend.
Hi Greg, its really just a matter of getting stuck in and trying. I only learned as i went. If i could give any advice it would be.
1 Ensure you have a sharp scalpel blade on a good cutting mat or ceramic tile.
2 Use Cyanoacrylate SPARINGLY. You only need a smear to attach anything.
3 Buy a good folding tool (Tamiya does one) It looks like a pair of pliers, or an etchmate.
4 Use a blob of Blu tack on a cocktail stick to pick up and position the PE
5 Dont go crazy for your 1st effort, start with seatbelts. When bending the lap belts, always hold the belt to the seat while you bend the lap belts to shape.
6 Never try dong any PE while drunk (The carpet monster loves drunks)
Good luck. Its fun…Honestly.
Gigatron, its the Eduard Pre painted set. Look on Hannants web site. They mail to the States.
I already put seat belts and I am pretty happy (knwoing “dos and donts” a bit) however those small pieces just drive me nuts. The idea with toothpick and sticky tac is just great. Iam going to use it !!![:D] and I will try to limit number of glasses of Jackie (Daniels) next time [:o)]
