HELP!!! Im addicted. (Hasa P40N Pit)

Hi all, that terrible addiction has got me yet again. I find that I while away hours trying to glue a miniscule doo dar onto a Atom sized whatcha call it.

The subject for this madness is a Hasagawa P40N 1/48. I saw Swanny building the earlier version on his video and that really was my impetus to start modelling again, for which im eternally gratefull.

Any hoo, heres the pit started and hopefully after a little dry brushing ill button the sides up. Thanks for looking

…Guy

Guy-

That’s a lotta PE! Looks great so far. I am close to finishing up my Hasegawa P-40E which I started years ago when it came out. Lots of filling and sanding on these babies.

That’s coming along great, Guy!

So the addiction has spread to you now? It’s just horrible…it won’t STOP!!!

I may have to get Swanny’s video if it will help me to build pits like that!!

Looking good so far, Guy. [#toast]

Nice work on the pit. A little weathering to give the office a lived in look & you’ll have a winner.

Regards, Rick

Guy, this is an excelent cockpit !

I wish I can handle the PE parts as you do [:D].

What camera did you use ? Settings ??

Greg

I feel for you. Having to walk around and have everyone staring at those huge fingers with Zinc Chromate green fingernails. I hope your condition … uhh… where was I going?[%-)]

Luft, very nice attention to detail! I likes!!

That looks fabulous! That looks like you took the real thing and hit it with the shrink ray. [:)]

Wow thx all. I think i hit a common point with the ‘Addiction’ thingy. lol.

Come on now, one at a time…

My name is Guy and im a Photo Etch addict. You know youll feel better for saying it. We could all belong to PEA, Photo Etch Annonymous. (Gotta a ring to it)

Greg, Im no cameraman by any length of the imagination. The camera i use is SWMBOed’s Fuji Finepix A340. I just hit the Macro button and focus. Easy peasy.

I was going to post some pics of the pit in place but Photobucket is down. Maybe later.
Cheers all again and hope you all had a good weekend.

…Guy

Hooray Photobucket is up again. Just a couple of the pit in place.

…Guy

MACRO nice feature (I do not have it on mine [:(!] - this is why this pict came up so crispy and focused so good [:D]

Thanks. Once again - Great job with this cockpit.

Greg

Guy, the cockpit is fantastic. Where can I learn about using PE so well ???

Greg

Guy, that is a fantastic pit.

Which PE set are you using? I always find the standard copper PE sets. I’ve never seen color sets for any kit that I build [:(].

The worst part about PE, is that noone will ever see it without having to play with the model. Too much of a double edged sword, if you ask me.

Again, great job!

Hi Greg, its really just a matter of getting stuck in and trying. I only learned as i went. If i could give any advice it would be.

1 Ensure you have a sharp scalpel blade on a good cutting mat or ceramic tile.

2 Use Cyanoacrylate SPARINGLY. You only need a smear to attach anything.

3 Buy a good folding tool (Tamiya does one) It looks like a pair of pliers, or an etchmate.

4 Use a blob of Blu tack on a cocktail stick to pick up and position the PE

5 Dont go crazy for your 1st effort, start with seatbelts. When bending the lap belts, always hold the belt to the seat while you bend the lap belts to shape.

6 Never try dong any PE while drunk (The carpet monster loves drunks)

Good luck. Its fun…Honestly.

Gigatron, its the Eduard Pre painted set. Look on Hannants web site. They mail to the States.

Good list! Add #7, 8 and 9: PATIENCE! LOL

I love the way P/E looks… it takes a light touch.

I usually end up with a throttle lever or two glued to my forehard.

That’s a fabulous looking 'pit!

Thanks Guy ! I will try it

I already put seat belts and I am pretty happy (knwoing “dos and donts” a bit) however those small pieces just drive me nuts. The idea with toothpick and sticky tac is just great. Iam going to use it !!![:D] and I will try to limit number of glasses of Jackie (Daniels) next time [:o)]

Greg

very nice looking cockpit, i love the PE detail. excellent work.

Looks awsome Guy [:D] Now how fast did you order more for the rest of the kits in your stash[;)]

You obviously don’t need any help. That looks really great. And being addicted to the Hase. P-40’s is a good thing.[:D]

I’m impressed. I’ve got lots of PE laying around. Just haven’t got around to using it, yet.
