I got the Academy CH-46 Bull Phrog for Christmas and I’m really hoping to model a specific a/c and squadron. This is my first rotary wing a/c and to be honest, I don’t see a lot of decals for helos out there. Does anyone have any suggestions? This is pretty important (to me). Even any of you guys that can make decals, I’ll pay and help as much as possible!

Check out the helicopter section of the forum. They might know of ready made decals for that particular squadron.

Which squadron are you looking to build? It’s true, there are not a lot of decals for the Phrog in 1/48, just what comes with the kit.

Dragonfire, I’m hoping to model it after an a/c my buddy went down in when he was with HMM-166 (REIN) “SeaElk.” My buddy was a crew-chief and the a/c he was on went down off Pt. Loma, I see you live in San Diego, do you remember? It happened in Dec. 99. Let me know.

I remember the incident, it was just before the BONHOMME RICHARDS maiden cruise.
As for decals for the Miramar and Pendleton Phrog Squadrons, no luck. I myself am looking for HMM-166’s sister SQDN HMM-163, but it looks like it’ll be a self project.
