Hey everyone - just a quick intro on myself. I’ve been modeling more seriously at least for about a decade, but have built models my entire life. From the North Eastern United States. I enjoy armor the most, but do plenty of aircraft and have dabbled in some diorama’s, cars and buildings at times. Just looking to join an online community and share in the best hobby in the world.
Here is a recent build I did on Tamiya’s new M36 Jackson. Went with the winter white wash as it was something I don’t do very often:
Welcome to the FSM forum and back to scale modeling “full time” MaleModeler 7. Your M36 turned out great. It’s definitely on my “wish list”. What was your method for the winter white wash?
Thanks! So this was the first time I used the “washable white” color from Ammo by Migs old line of paints, rather than doing the hairspray method. I was a big fan, as it literally washed out the color, rather than giving large random sections of chipping down to the base color. Hard to describe, but I thought it gave a much more convincing look. After that, some grime and rust colored oil brushers for washes and some darker pigments for contrast.
Welcome! Some setup there. I am also a NE recently moved from the Chicago area. Sort of like from the frying pan to the fire. My move to this are -Boston_ has put me on a long and fruitless search for real live Model shops. I haven’t found one within 40 Miles.. were do you get your supplies?
So this is one of the toughest things to find in my opinion. I live close to Cape Cod, so I take the trip to Centerline Hobbies in Hyannis for my supplies. They have at least as far as I’m concerned, an amazing selection of models. Armor, aircraft, cars, ships, they have tons of each thing. They also have a great Tamiya and testors paint selection. The thing they’re missing is really anything for weathering. If you were looking for Ammo or AK interactive or any other brands like that, they don’t carry it.
