Hello from Moose Jaw , Canada

Hi. I’m from Moose Jaw, Sask, Canada. I’ve recently returned to modelling after a 40 year (ouch) hiatus thanks to a copy of FSM I happened to pick up and to an ex son-in-law who flies Hercs for the CAF. My “dream” is to build a history of the CAF in 1/72 scale. So far I am buying more than building, but am enjoying both. Hope to hear from others interested in the CAF.

Ah Moose Jaw…born and raised there…a good place to be from.
After 40 years you’re probably a little on the rusty side but welcome back! You’ll get lots of info from these forums.

Welcome lynn104. I’m from Saskatoon so we’re practically neighbours!!

Better mark May 3rd on your calendar cuz that’s the day of Bridge-Con, the SMAS annual scale model contest. I’ve been to the last two and they are very well organized and draws a nice variety of models.

Maybe you could enter something!

Welcome aboard, and welcome back. I think you’ll like how the hobby has changed. I lived in Cold Lake for a couple of years, serving with the air reserves before joining the ‘regs’ . I saw just about every form of airccraft we have.(sadly not what it should be). I was there when they rolled out the F-18 a proud day for the airforce. live in Cow town now.

Welcome again

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I have really noticed the difference in the quality and details of the kits as well as the supplies available. I think I’m getting OK at the detailing, filling, sanding, spraying, etc.
How do I get more info about the SMAS contest on May 3?

lynn104, If you send me an email (should be an icon at the bottom of this message), I can get you the details for the Bridgecon contest on May 3rd.

You’ll find that there is quite a bit of Can-Con here Sapper. Greetings from central Alberta.

JCHURCH mentioned Cold Lake. I went TDY to Cold Lake from Homestead AFB Fl. in '81. One of our F-4D’s was being chased by a CAF F-5. Both were traveling at the speed of heat. When the F-5 called out “Fox 2” the engine on the F-4 exploded causing the aircraft to start burning. Both crew members ejected safely. It was a joke for awhile that the F-5 shot down our F-4.

A friendly welcome from somebody else who is new to the site…Welcome. Oh yeah, and by the way…could you guys up there in Canada stop sending us your snow?[:D] I was stationed at Loring AFB, ME and used to go up to Grand Falls, NB a lot…most of the people were pretty friendly (as well as tolerant) of us drunk airmen up there. We always had a lot of fun! Everybody from Canada that I have met have been good people…glad to have you as neighbors![:)]

Sorry coldwar…but the snow is part of the free trade agreement that we Canucks readily agreed to. Our major export. LOL

Hi der eh![;)] Welcome to the group. These forums are the best. By the way, you guys can keep the snow, we’ve had a light year so far.

Sorry…forgot about NAFTA![:D] We got quite a bit of your export this weekend…most we have had here since '87. It was fun, but there is nothing like shoveling snow to show how out of shape you are![xx(][B)]
