Hello from me

Hello

Just signed up so here is a sort of introduction. I like to scratch build armor (nothing later than the of WWII) in a number of scales (mostly 1:10 and 1:16) from metal (steel and brass mostly) from a number of countries. I’m not exactly a rivet counter but I do my best.

All my models so far have been designed for RC and built as such but I noticed that a lot of them seem to sit in boxes so I am thinking about abandoning the notion of mobility altogether and just calling them static models!

Ive always had a fondness for looking at builds on the Finescale site but have always been a bit daunted by the level they are at but Ive now taken the plunge and signed up!

Welcome aboard!

Welcome aboard. Would love to seen your work!

Many thanks for the welcome.

I will post some pictures but I have to figure out how to do it!

Update… Im really struggling with the pictures. According to the help section, to post images I need to use the "Rich Formatting " option to ensure they are shown. But this option does not appear for me to click. Only “Reply” and “Quick Reply”.

How exactly do I ensure this “Rich Formatting” option is available?

OK i try again

This is a KV-2 in steel, 1:10 scale, full RC. Weighs about 40 kg and is totally impracticable for a 100 reasons. It has two sprockets and this is because it was the only way to keep the tracks (duplex industrial roller chain) on given teh terrain I ws drivingit on. Will never build a tank this big again. Unless I move house and buy a new car.

This is a 1:10 scale T-60- Steel and brass. RC ready but not kitted out with electronics yet. I painted it as a Beutepanzer simply because I had the paints.

The next one is a good example of why I never posted on Finescale before.

Im not a rivet counter at all and will sacrifice accuracy for getting something finished. I have no machine tools so things are a bit crude and body filler is liberally used.

AS can be seen with this 1:16 steel and brass Chi Ri. Its RC ready and needs a coat of paint to hide the scabby body work but I hate painting. It uses KV tracks and sprockets as there was zero chance of ever finding or making accurate tracks

This is a 1:16 aluminium and brass Stug III Ausf F (E variant or whatever its called, not the other one). I bought the tracks and running gear so its not 100% scratch. RC’ed and runs OK. I know the gun is too long and I will shorten it one day (!).

My current project is a 1:16 steel and brass T-12 prototype. I will start a build thread on that once I have something worth photographing.

W-O-W!!! Great work! The guys in the Armour section will love to see these photos.

I’m not an armour person. I’ve built a few but nothing special. I can really appreciate the work you put into those tanks. Had an R/C kit Panzer a few years back. Was a royal PITA to keep operating. Took all the running gear out, detailed the outside and gave it to the local WWII museum. They already had a US jeep and a 1/2 track in that scale so they set it up on a shelf as a separate display.

Keep up the great work and keep the photos coming.

WELCOME!!!

Welcome to the forum, P! You should do a search for posts here in the forum by “armorguy”. He builds 1/6 scale armor, scratchbuilding and casting his own parts. He runs East Coast Armory, too: http://eastcoastarmory.com/index.htm If you’ve never heard of him, you’ll probably enjoy having a look.

Best regards,

Brad

Awsome work my friend. You have skills I can only dream of.
