Hi All. My name is John. Picked up modelling again after more than 5 decades. In my youth, I built a lot of aircraft and a few ships. Right now I am gob-smacked, bowled over and in absolute awe with the variety of tools, glues and paints we have at our disposal. Back in the day all we had was a Gillette blade (double edged) taped on one edge for safety, a tube of glue, one or two paint brushes and a hand full of Humbrol enamel paint cans. I’m afraid I’m going to lean on you all quite a bit to begin with but it will all be worth it in the end. Thanks for being here.
Welcome John! You are quite right about the changes to the hobby. I have been back at it since 2018 and even though I subscribed to FSM since the early 2000s there is a big gap between reading and doing. So 8 years back into it and I am still learning. But it keeps my fingers nimble and my mind active so continuous learning is a good thing.
Hello and welcome aboard,do you build SADF subjects,I have a Rooikat on my shelf
Welcome back to the hobby. Good time to return as I believe we are in the golden age of plastic modeling. So many kits/manufacturers and now great 3d printing. Looking forward to seeing your work.
Welcome back to the hobby and welcome to the forum, John! I look forward to seeing your builds.
Best regards,
Brad
Hi Anthony. To be honest, I have not started building yet. I have been spending time gathering essentials before I start. I will however look out for SADF kits.

Hey John, welcome. I think you’ll find most of us have been where you are now. You’ll have questions, someone here (Brad mostly) will have the answers. This forum is full of answers, just look it over, you’ll find plenty of good helpful insights, wisdom and yes even mistakes.
Looking forward to seeing your contributions here
