I know it is an old kit, but how decent is the 1/400 Heller kit of this monster? Anyone ever built her in the past? Good, bad, indifferent?
Also noticed Hobby Boss does a 1/350 of her.
The original kit was basic and rather crude - also out of production for many years. When it was re-released several years ago in an ‘Upgraded’ edition, it included etch and a resin conning tower, at a really decent price. Very buildable, and quite a nice-looking result.
If you’re not hung up on the scale - some people understandably want to stick to a uniform 1/350 scale - It’s a very nice project. And there are quite a few photos and resources available if you want to ‘detail it up.’
I’ve never seen the HB kit, so I can’t offer any illumination on that.
