Yup, great kit. A few of us here have built it. It is very detailed and goes together well. Definitly rcommended.

Sadly enough its more detailed and a lot more correct than Trumpeters new 1/35 CH47 Chinook.

WOW just got the kit, this thing is a moose… have to translate drawings , they are in French.

For a kit that is a decade old the detail is amazing.
The French still fly these in one squadron and have a typical “butt ugly” paint scheme like curren USN helos.
Early birds didn’t have the “Elmer Fudd” nose radome either.
Without too much work you can make it into an Israeli bird from the 1960’s early 1970’s.
later versions used different engines with single exhausts.
Most IDF birds had a .50 cal. in the Starboard window. Some had the pontoons removed.

For fun you could make a French covert bird like the big Jollys we have - FLIR, Radar, Refueling, etc.

Depending on the vintage of the kit you might have a pair of missles (EXOCETS) or a set of troops.

You got it. The kit is about 3 decades old, not just one. Still a great kit with outstanding details. Heller has a winner there. Now if all their other kits could be that good…

The camo is quite attractive and the engine dust filter along with the lack of sponsons gives it a somewhat different outline.

The picture of it with the Ford CMP truck beside it really shows how big the actual bird is.

I just bought the Heller 1/35 Super Frelon kit today and I went searching the FSM Forum pages for info as I have a couple of questions regarding the kit

I was thinking of building mine as an Israeli helicopter but it appears that Heller don’t include the engine intake screens that fit over the cockpit roof .

The 1/72 scale Mach 2 Super Frelon kit includes them on their sprue

You can see it fitted on a previously built Mach 2 kit I did a few years ago

I was hoping that there might be an aftermarket one available for the Heller 1/35 kit ; Does anyone know of one ?

Also I see Gino did a rotor fold on his awesome Super Frelon build . The instruction don’t mention anything about folding the rotors but looking at the instruction booklet it shows part 55 and 56 joining together

Is it just a case of glueing these two pieces in an open position to make the rotor blades fold back ?

I appreciate any assistance or suggestions you guy’s might have ,

I don’t believe anyone makes AM sand filters for it. You would need to scratch them yourself.

Yes, parts 55 and 56 are the fold hinge for the rotors. Glue the hinge sides together and fold them open, it looks great. I used the below diagram to guide me in how to fold them.

Unfortunately, mine didn’t survive the last move, so it is no more. I might have to do another at some point in the future.
