Does anyone know of a 1/48 scale replacement vac canopy for a helldiver? The canopy in the Acc Min aka Revelogram kit is… well… if I use the word I am thinking of the post will be deleted. It is so bad it cannot be used. I got a replacement form Acc Min and it was worse than the 1st one.
OR---- as an alternative… if you have the kit with a good canopy and are willing to lend it to me so I can make a copy with my Mattel Vacuform and I will send it back. I will also give you an insurance policy of if I damage your canopy I will replace the whole kit.
Ok. i’m home and I just broke the seal on my clear parts…
I tell ya, I’m slowly getting disenchanted with this kit. My clear parts have pretty bad distortion. Not a huge deal since I planned on posing them open. However, the pilot’s sliding canopy (part101) is bigger on one end and has no frame detail on the “big” end.
Now that I’m looking at it (while I type) the windscreen is garbage too. The vertical framing is soft and the diagonals are missing!
Sorry, bro. i really wanted to come to your rescue on this one. Looks like we’re both “up the creek.” I wonder if anyone out there has a suitable Pro-Modeller version with a good canopy. It’s the original for this kit and can be vacu-formed. I’m off to see if someone makes a vac for this.
That problem with the clear parts cropped up late in production of the original ProModeler release and was said to be the reason that the kit disappeared for a time. I’d hoped that the Accurate Miniatures boxings would have the problem fixed, but I guess not.
Anyhoo, I had an extra sprue or three at one point, but I know that at least one went to a guy in my model club… I’ll take a looksee if there’s still one laying around the shop…
