Don’t forget that the A-10 GB build is open-ended this year as well. I’m going to finish my Pave Hawk for this build before I work on my Hawg.

I am going to do some SERIOUS modelling tonight. Have cleared off my desk of all book paraphernelia. Just putting the finishing touches on the manuscript now. If all goes well, I wil have painted the interiors of an Apache, Kiowa, Little Bird and Blackhawk and started detailing some of them by tonight. I’m doing a group build group build.
Ok, now I have to pull up my Hawk interior refs.
First thing I did was gettimg out the model and find all the aftermarket parts and PE kits … it was a treasure hunt but I found ev’rything.
Today I’ll start working on the bird again.

Seems like you’re quite a busy man, Dan.
Here’s my first update:
The first picture shows a part of Block 152 upgrades; IR-detectors mounted on undercarriage. The detectors are a resin copy of th ones on Academy’s DAP.
This pic shows the “fast rope insertion thing”. It’s made with copper tubes and plastic but it isn’t finished yet.
Question: Where are the ammo chutes attached on the feed box?
Suggestion: If you are building one of Academy’s birds and are mounting the FLIR don’t cut the fuselage where the plastic is thinner (i.e. where Academy wants you to cut) the resulting hole is bigger than the FLIR-mount!

How much smaller should the hole for the FLIR be cut?
Width is almost correct, but it’s about 2mm longer!
I suggest you place the mount on the fuselage and trace it to get the correct size.
I’ll have to fill the gaps with putty once the halves are together since I already cut it out following the lines!![:(!]

Got a little more work done on my Pave Hawk’s interior over the weekend…
I’ve still got a ways to go; I’d say I’m about 50-75% done with the interior…
• Add more black boxes (and some gray ones) around the radio equipment
• mock-up a 1/35 Gazateer and “paperwork” and place in cockpit and cabin
• install pedals
• repaint “cushions” on the FEs chair and finish installing all the belts/buckles before final assembly
• finish detail painting of consoles
• Touch-up painting (bulkheads, fire extinguishers, control boxes, etc)
• add some more gear bags
• hoping the aux. int. tanks Gino’s sending me aren’t assembled. I goofed and fully assembled mine before I knew better.
• install and wrap the penetrator ([(-D] that sounded funny)
• figure out how to build the litter
• detail aft bulkhead (I’m debating doing the two square inserts)
• FRIES rig and hang straps from it (not looking forward to that)
• Better detailing of the cabin ceiling, including cutouts

MH-60G interior is coming along nicely. Glad the Aux. tank will work for you. How are you planning to make the Stokes litter basket? I am going to make one for mine as well. I haven’t decided if I will use brass rod and solder it, or plastic rod. What thinks you?

I’m thinking of solder and brass too. I think it’d be easier than bending and gluing plastic, especially at that size.
I’ve put this on hold until I hear back from Sal about how accurate my interior is since I messed up that center console. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can salvage what I’ve built thus far.

I have a 1/48th kit that i just rescued from the box that the movers had tossed it in, will have to order another kit to replace all the little parts that have gone MIA, would it be possible to get in on this build. I have already started modifying the cabin to accept a scrach built US Army medevac config (my first big scratchbuild - ever).
Wish that i had seen this before i started on my FW190 that has been consuming me for the past 3 months.

Thanks for the invite, I already ordered the replacement kit, now i just have to wait the two weeks for it to get here, I hate how slow the mail is here in Germany. Guess that means I get to concentrate on the interior for a while.

I hope to be able to post some updates on sunday. Currently I’m modifying the ammo dispenser, placing both feed mechanisms on the same side.
Well, the new kit has arrived and i have the templates for the Medevac Carousel in the cabin, Just have to start on it!!! Hopefully in the next week or two I’ll have some progress to show. Also am going to add a second kit to this GB - the 1/48 MH-60K with no doors as I have seen one somewhere sometime!!! [8D]
