Going purely from memory at this point, I remember a comic book similar to Heavy Metal that had a story involving these helicopters without the rotors.
I want to build such a thing. (the idea seems popular in hollywood what with movies like AI)
Since the comic books are stored someplace, I am not sure if I will find them. (much less the name of the comic)
Has anyone seen such a thing? I plan on looking for a model of a Dauphin or Bell helicopter that fits my memory best and get another model with winglets (maybe an Apache)
Has anyone seen the comic I am refering to or have ideas on making this “homebrew” possible?
Nope, this was from a magazine similar to Heavy Metal. It would have 3 or for story arcs per issue.
I caught one story arc that involved air vehicles that were basically this:

Sorry I can’t help…
BUT!
I would LOVE to see a kit of the Ornathopter from A.I.…I thought those were pretty cool looking!!

That’s an awful lot of clear plastic for a model. It looks like a scratch build or something with another helicopter.
I found the graphic magazine. It was called Epic Magazine.
The scene show a bunch of these Dauphins without the chopper blades up against a bunch of A-10 Warthogs.

It looks like a relatively easy build. All I need is a Dauphin or maybe the Trumpeter Coast Guard Dolphin.
The scale is too large though. I’d much rather deal with 1/72. I’d then have to get a Warthog to complete the scene.
do a forced perspective diorama with 48th chopper and 72nd A10
