Has anyone ordered the 1:48 he 111 squadron (underside gondola) canopy.?
Theres no picture of it on their website and I would like to know if it is the correct style for the h-6 version of a he 111. ?
I will probably order the upper canopy parts aswell so if anyone has any coments on them i would apprecieate it !
Thanks … …Peter
The Squadron (Falcon) kit provides different gondola front and rear transparencies for all variations. They fit well. too! It should include the various dorsal canopies, too. The forward canopy provides the later, more extensively glazed upper nose canopy for the H-10 and later variants, but I think Squadron sells it separately. I got my vacs in a Falcon set.
Thankyou for your reply Chuckw. I actually want to model the h-5(pretty much the same as the h-6 ) version and i recieved an email from squadron saying that their upper and lower canopys weren’t the correct versions that i was looking for. …Strange !!! …anyway it looks like i have to go for the flacon set. i’ll also end up with some clears parts for other aircraft that i don’t have in my stash …but its always good to have spare parts around ! thanks again . Peter.
Hey Chuckw !!! i just went over to the falcon website and it appears that they make canopy sets individually for squadron . So wouldn’t the falcon heinkel parts (set no 38 with other luftwaffe aircraft )be the same as the individual ones from squadron ???
Set #38 is the very one I have- and it has the proper bits for pretty much all the variants. I was able to snag it at my LHS. I can’t really say much about the Squadron set, but I’d reckon it’d be the same. Hmmm… I don’t think you’ll need the Squadron nose set- it’s for the later variants, which didn’t have the upper instrument panel and had an MG/FF mounted in a redesigned nose turret. The separate pilot’s hatch is nice, tho, 'cause you can show off that sweet interior. I’d recommend the Falcon set- it’s got it all. On a side note, I just put the last decals on my H-10. I did some touch-up painting this morning and will flat-coat that sucker at long last after it dries for a bit. Then the masking comes off tomorrow!
Thanks for your reply chuckw ! my computer has been down for a week so i haven’t be able to post. Just wanted to say thanks !!!
No prob, my friend! My Heinkel is clear-flatted, demasked and up on her gear. Thought it would never happen! I’ve put the older Eduard bomb bay in (wouldn’t ya know they’d re-release all their Heinkel sets after I’d sealed up the fuse) and got the bomb bay doors built- 58 pieces! I cut their 4 one-pice doors into the 16 individual parts and had to scratchbuild 4 extra hinges- the set is short these parts. The new bomb bay set looks about a thousand times nicer, but the old one ain’t half bad…
sounds good !!! post if you can .
