Does anyone have suggestions or even possibly a formula for Haze and Deck Grey? I spent many of years in the US Navy and I haven’t found anything close to either. I have seen posts saying to use Gunship Grey for Deck Gray, but to me it is to dark. Like I said I spent many years in the navy and I know that both colors will fade and sun bleach. I saw a post that said to use Tamiya Germany Grey for Deck Grey has anyone used this color for that purpose? Any tips or suggestion, or even any mix formulas would be greatly appreciated.
Testors makes Haze Gray in their latest releases of their Model Master acrylic and enamel paint lines. But no Deck Gray. If you think Gunship Gray is too dark, I suggest AMC ( Air Mobility Command ) Gray, it is darker than modern FS Neutral Gray and lighter than Gunship Gray. It is the current color used overall on USAF transport aircraft such as the C-130 and C-17. Testors also makes that color.
On my 1/96 scale models, I use Aggressor Grey for the vertical surfaces, and Gunship Grey for the decks. I agree that the Gunship Grey fades dramatically in service, so you can fade it by lightening it with white if you are portraying a more weathered vessel. Adding white will also help with the scale effect.
