I am looking for a 1/48 scale E-2 Hawkeye; I thought I saw one built and on display at a model show one time, but I can’t seem to find any for sale. Is there or was there ever a 1/48 scale Hawkeye produced or was I dreaming?
I’ve only seen the Fujimi 1/72 kits and its reboxes, maybe there is a vacform in that scale.
yes, Collect-aire did one a while back. It was in the $225 smacker range (normal for them). They are a limited run resin kit. You may be able to get one here if they are still availible.
I don’t know how I forgot about that one. Maybe it’s because I forked out the money for the XB-51, and it was a disappointment. Some of the Collectaire kits are OK, though. Thanks for fixing my memory.
At the moment the expensive (and complicated as I’ve heard) Collectaire kit is the only 1/48 Hawkeye to be had.
However, my advice is to sit tight, I believe that MPM or one of its associated brands has announced a 1/48 Hawkeye in injection mold for sometime in the next year or two.
