Finished my entry to the Hurricane GB today. This is the Hasegawa 1/48 Mk IIC kit. It was an easy build with only minimal construction issues. The Hurricane is not really depicting a real Hurricane - I used the kit markings but painted it in the scheme that I consider classic for RAF fighters - dark earth + dark green and British sky S rather than the dark green + ocean gray called for in the instructions. Completely OOB except for the antenna. Model master acrylics with Tamiya weathering compounds and a burnt umber wash.
I think the camera must have been askew on the tripod for this head-on shot because the Hurricane does not sit unlevel.
Yep! The camera is definately tilted. You can see it in the gap on the background[:I]
She definately looks like an awesome build! I see no flaws (except that it isn’t sitting on my shelf[;)]) Very well done! Definately a beautiful gem[8D]
Thanks for everyone’s responses! The Hurricane was always a favorite of mine (and I always thought it got the short end of the stick for its accomplishments particularly during the Battle of Britain). Nice little kit that was far more accurate than the ancient Monogram kit I’d built a couple of times in the past.
For the exhaust pipes I just used a Model Master Burnt Iron paint. That was all for the pipes. For the gun barrels, I first painted them Model Master steel then brushed on burnt metal.
love the detail on this build…Really makes this one stand out…i really enjoyed seeing the little bit of rust you put on the nose at the base of the prop blades. Well done my friend.
Most excellent, Steven! I like the decision to stay with the “traditional” Hurricane colors. She sure looks the part! I like the “C” variant with the big guns, too. As usual, stellar job!
