Hawgsmoke 2004 trip report

It’s not much but I felt I had to put out something… [^]

Thanks Dice.

It was very interesting. I love them hogs myself and you have me wanting to start building my 1/48 scale Monogram A-10 next. [:D] [;)]

Are competitions like Hawgsmoke and others open only to military personnel?
I would love to go watch Red Flag at Nellis sometime but I guess that is not possible is it?

Mike

Thanks for the great pics and report Dice. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I agree with your sombre feelings when taking the pics of the now unused buildings - you remember them so full of activity - so much so that the buildings themselves used to have their own personalties. Sad to see them gone.

Looks like you were able to drown your sorrows with a few good beers and plenty of food though - you made me thirsty and hungry just reading it!

Regards,

Bob

thanks for the comments guys! [^] Mike, parts of Hawgsmoke are open to the public and other parts open to the media, if there is ever one near you by all means go! Exresizes like red flag and other offical meets are not generaly open to the public but there is one you can go to at Nellis called Capstone. It’s a live fire demo put on every year by the AF for the media and invited guests. It’s pretty easy to get on the invite list by contacting PA at the base, I belive it’s coming up in June.

I’m going to try to get an invite to this years loadeo (yes it spelled right) up at Bosie the first week of June, this is the biggest weapons load comp held.

Bob, yea there was a ton of food beer and good times! It is sad to see the old bases and know what when on there but I guess that’s life! [V]

Thanks Dice.

Mike

Really enjoyed that read Dice, thanks!
