Hasegawas New Frank Is In...............

Hiya,
What can I say, its everything that the 48th kit is but bigger[:p]. First off, the over all kit is well molded and there is hardly any flashing. One thing that I did notice was that in some areas, I did see injection mold points. Thats no biggy because they are very shallow. So sanding would be easy.
As for the panel lines, they are consistent throughout the a/c. Very clean to boot…!!!
The wings come in 3 pieces which should make it easier to join to the fuselage…!!! Crossing fingers…[;)]
I really did not check the engine out all that much but from what I did see, she looks to be very nice.
The interior can not be over looked. Detailing is very crisp and clean. The instrument panel is out standing. They give you two decals for this area as well. On is the over all black decal with the dials while the other gives you a clear background with the dials. Or if you want the easy way out, you can always paint the dials…!!![;)]
As for the side walls, they are well detailed as well but there are some throttles and control tab wheels that are molded in. You would think for being such a big model, it would be easier to make them seperate.
Other than that, you can do a lot of detailing or just leave it OOB. Either way she will stand out.
The clear parts are crisp and clear yet they are somewhat on the thick side…!! Over all descent[;)]
As for the decals, they are the typical Hasegawa fashion…!! I am sure that the AM companies will have fun with this kit as well for the decals guys.
Well I only gave a very brief description cause I have some pix to go along with this post. Plus I want you to check one out at your LHS
O as for a added bonus, PE is included… MMMMM I think not…!!! They give you a sheet of paper that you must fill out and mail or fax. I guess they neeed a data base for address.
I feel I kinda got gypped because if I wanted to start this kit ASAP, I would have to wait 6-8 wks to get the PE stuff. Heck, for that matter they do not even say what you get[:(]. This is the only down side of the kit. Over all I give this kit a 8.5 out of a possible 10[:p][;)] I am sure you all want to know what I dished out right… $45. Not bad for a kit on this par.
Well her she is fellas…

I agree. I saw it at the LHS a few days ago. I haven’t bought one yet as I’m trying to stay with 1/48, but it is very tempting.

Regards, Rick

That looks like a terrific kit. What is the going price? Thanks for the review. [alien]

Come on Rick, you can do it… SSshhhhhh wait, I hear it calling your name RRrriiiiiccckkkkk…[:p][;)] So far I am pleased in what I see.

Yo yardbird,
She set me back $45. Well w/ my discount at Happy Hobbies(inside joke) it was $40.

I want one. That is my favorite Japanese fighter. I have the 1/48 version and like Rick, i want to stick to that scale only. I’m looking forward to your work though.

I know what ya mean my friend… Going out of your scale can be a good thing. Sometimes thats needed…
Hint hint hint…[:p][;)]

Hmmm, looks like the PE fret is not a standard feature of the kit, but rather a bonus that Dragon USA adds to the kit.
Hence why it is not mentioned in the Instruction sheet, but would have been nice if they had added a teaser to the form…

Hiya MM,
I guess its a catch all… I think they should have re worded their ad a bit.
Kinda gets your taste buds flowing and tada, no PE… Its funny that they dont even mention what it is. O’well I guess there is only one way to find out right…!!!
Flaps up Mike

Just checked out Dragons USA web site(www.Dragonmodelsusa.com) and get this, even though they say that PE is included, they also mention for a limited time only. What gives??
I also see that their P-40E is going to be the same way when it comes out …!!

I’m in!

See I told ya Justen…[:p][;)] You wont be disappointed either…!!!
After I bought mine, Ron had only 2 left. Get one while you can.
