Hasegawa Myrt help!

Hi all!

I bought Hasegawa’s 1/48 C6N Myrt recently. I bought the ‘Prototype’ version, which comes with some resin goodies for making the bare-metal prototype version of this plane.

Well, my modelling skills are improving by leaps and bound, but I am really disappointed by what needs to be done to build the model as packaged. It needs some serious surgery that I was not aware of to build it as the prototype. I’m not really comfortable with hacking off the stock bits, and cutting holes in the side of the model.

Unfortunately, Hasegawa has only included the markings for this one aircraft! I have only been able to find one aftermarket decal set for the Myrt, and its out of production and not available anywhere (Rising Decals). I don’t want to try and fake it from my decal spares, not sure if I could with what I have, anyway…

So I ask - Does anyone have a regular, non-prototype Myrt kit, but would like to build a prototype? If so, I’d love to trade my decals and the resin bits for your decals.

On the other hand, does anyone know of any companies that make decals for the Myrt? I really don’t want to have to eBay this kit, I really want to build a Myrt!!

Thanks!
Mark

I’m not sure if you tried these places but some of the european online shops appear to have the Rising Decals.

www.hobbyshop.cz

www.modelimex.com

I hope this helps.

Thanks. I checked the first 2 before, they were out. The third one I didn’t know about, they have the decals, but it’s 4.08 Euros for the decals, and 9.50 Euros for the shipping. That’d be about $17 for decals! That’s not going to work…

Hey Gator!I have the 1/48 Hasegawa Myrt and since I plan to paint the hinomarus I’ll trade you for the decals.Shoot me can E-mail if interested.

Gator,I sent you a Private Message(PM) with additional info.

I have built the Hasegawa #9084 Nakajima C6N Myrt and thought it to be a great kit. The interior detailing is second to none. The whole plane went together without a hitch excpet for a canopy issue. I bought a second kit #9646 since I liked it so much. Unfortunately I can’t use the bits you don’t need. Sorry.

I am looking forward to the build. Your Myrt looks great!

Philo426 is setting me up, so I think I’m good now. Thanks, Philo!!

Gator,Isent out the decals today!I sent them 1st class so you should get them in 3-4 days.

I could be mistaken, but it sounds like if you build the kit without the hacking and resin “extras”, you will wind up with a regular Myrt.

At least this has been my experience with kits where they throw in resin parts. I usually wind up hacking and gluing the resinparts on, but I realize that if I don’t, it winds up looking like the “standard” varient.

Yup - a regular Myrt without any decals on it. Hasegawa didn’t see fit to include a set of decals for the non-prototype version!

The Myrt I did has only a couple decals on it. (See picture in previous post) The balls, the tail number and the nose number. That’s it. If you need tail numbers I have two each of these; 762-26, 762-13, 343-05.

Cool, appreciate it, but I’ve got decals on the way. Thanks!

BTW, can you post a pic of the thirteen resin bits from this kit? Do they replace or are they an option to the plastic pieces, and would they improve any regular Myrt, or are they just for the conversion to a Proto? I ask this 'cuz I have the Hasegawa #9325 Nakajima B6N1 Carrier Attack Bomber Tenzan (Jill) that has a bag of resin goodies that appear to me to be an option to the plastic pieces in the kit. It would be my choice to use them or not.

Gator I sent you a PM with my address as requested

Here is a pic of my Myrt
Here is another view of the Myrt

It turned out great!! Nice Myrt! Did you use the resin bits for the prototype?

I decided to use the kit-supplied parts and save the resin parts for another project. The resin parts are really of high quality and exhibit almost no of the pinholes common on most resin parts.
