Hasegawa F-14D and Verlinden F-14 AM

I have here the Hasegawa F-14D 1/48 scale and also the Verlinden F-14 Super Detail set AM for it. To my surprise, I thought it was for all variants of F-14 but the manual (of the PE) stated that it MUST be used for the F-14A/B. Dang! Can I still use all of these update sets?

PS. Should I also get a hang on the Black Box resin cockpit for Hasegawa F-14D? It costs here $40 USD and looks cool though.

If you have the money use it for the BB cockpit. The BB cockpit is far superior to the Haseagwa one. However be prepared for a lot of work in cutting and sanding. As far as the other set goes I do not know what is in there but I can’t imagine it being that much different. Check the box date it may even predate the F-14 Delta model so I don’t know. To the best of my knowledge the only differences to the Bravo and Delta models is the ejection seats and the chin pod so you should be alright but don’t quot me on that one. Good luck.

Exactly the same thing happened to me! I also bought the Walkaround book for the F-14, and it looks like that there are a lot of differences between the A/B and the D. All sorts of avionics hatches are replaced and have completely new interiors. The gun vents are not the same either. So it looks like we have to buy an A or a B someday to use the Verlinden set with.
