any one build it?[?]
Sean
Which one? 1/48th or 1/72nd? Bryan
Quick Rundown
1/48 F4U-4: Older technology, raised panel lines, shallow wheel wells, windscreen marginally too wide. Good outline, coarse but accurate details. earlier boxings had no ordnance or drop tanks. Your best bet for a quick build -4. (I seem to recall the engine is the wrong marque, however).
1/48 F4U-5, F4U-7, AU-1: Recessed panel lines, very accurate shape. Fuselage nose plug allowed Hasegawa to accurately reproduce the subtly different contours of the three variants, but mold mis-alignment can leave a “step” requiring careful recontouring. Main wheels anemic and should be replaced with True Detail items. Engine is the proper marque, but one piece configuration requires careful painting. Definitely your best bet for a late-production Corsair.

I built the 1/48 F4U-4. It was a nice kit, but not a great one. I found the wheel wells and cockpit to be a little too basic. I could have made it more realistic with a little scratch detailing, but I didn’t feel the inspiration. I liked the decals.

I have two of the 72nd kits in the stash, I’m about to build one. It’s pretty basic… raised panel lines… shallow wheel wells. Cockpit is very, very basic. Looks like an ok kit though.
ya it was the 1/48th scale and my freind wanted to build a corsair it will be his frist model. is it good for begainers?
Good for beginers. Yeah, I’d say so. It fits together pretty well, and it has a simple single tone paint sceme (Dark Blue).
thanks, ridleusmc my friend will happy.

This was discussed a few days ago in the forum and many including myself believed the better choice was tamiya’s offering in 1/48
Here’s a link to my build and the other’s opinions
