Hasegawa Announces Their next 1/72 WWII Bomber Release

Following on the release of the excellent 1/72 B-25 & Heinkel He-111, Hasegawa has announced the release of an Avro Lancaster for the next in the seies of WWII Bombers. Although yhis is great news, I’m still hoping for a new B-26 & Do-17 someday.

Regards, Rick

Good news - anyone any idea why - bearing in mind the popularity of the Lancaster why it has not been done ealier by one of the more precise kit manufacturers in 1:72

Hey, that is good news! Hopefully they’ll have some test shots at the Shizuoka show this May!

Or, even better, on the shelf at the LHS by May [:D].

Regards, Rick

Absolutely!
Where’d you hear this news, Rick? I’ve scoured Hasegawa’s Japanese website, but could find neither hide nor hair…those secretive rascals!

This is indeed most excellent news, looking forward to putting that one together.

That’s awesome. I was just talking to a mid ship gunner on a lancaster at the local military museum. He was on a plane called Lillian. He’s a great guy.

It was announced at the Nuremberg Toy Fair.

Only problem I see with this is the cost. Probably be $60-90 by the time it crosses the pond.

More likely in the $45-50 range would be my guess.

That is still a lot of money for a little Braille Scale model. I guess looking at it realistically, it cost just about as much to tool up a 1/72 as it does a 1/48.

YYYEEEEEESSSSSSS!!! Thanks Rick, you made my day!!

Did anyone build the MPC Lancaster many years ago? That was the only 1/72 scale version I can remember.

Regards, Dan

I don’t recall one from MPC. Airfix did one 20 or more years back.

Back in the day Matchbox made a 1/72 Lancaster ( A reall [banghead] to build ), also when Revell released there 1/72 Bomber fleet they also released a 1/72 Lancaster, about as good as that horrible 1/72 B-17 they made. Its now on the market as a Revell of Germany product [xx(]

I just read this news and was racing over to post it when I saw Rick had beaten me to the punch.

As far as I’m concerned this one is going to be a must have kit and in 1:72 shouldn’t be so big that I have to put a new room on to store it.

Rick,
The He-111 retails for $43 and the B-25 for $42 (not that you can’t find them for less). and the Lanc is easily a larger plane.
Now, the kicker is, Hasagawa’s other 4 engine planes retail for around $30 (B-17’s, P-3 Orion, Emily, Mavis). If they can bring it out for less than $40, I will probably get one.

That’s fantastic - a Lanc that doesn’t need an entire room for display! Can’t wait to see it in the shops. Wonder what it’ll be worth here.

My wife’ll be pleased.

She’s been dropping unsubtle hints about me building a Lanc since the BoB flight did a couple of very low overflights of our house one evening a couple of years back.

I just couldn’t face the Airfix offering!

Now we just need decent Ju88s and Do17/217s in 1/72.
