Following on the release of the excellent 1/72 B-25 & Heinkel He-111, Hasegawa has announced the release of an Avro Lancaster for the next in the seies of WWII Bombers. Although yhis is great news, I’m still hoping for a new B-26 & Do-17 someday.
Good news - anyone any idea why - bearing in mind the popularity of the Lancaster why it has not been done ealier by one of the more precise kit manufacturers in 1:72
That’s awesome. I was just talking to a mid ship gunner on a lancaster at the local military museum. He was on a plane called Lillian. He’s a great guy.
That is still a lot of money for a little Braille Scale model. I guess looking at it realistically, it cost just about as much to tool up a 1/72 as it does a 1/48.

Back in the day Matchbox made a 1/72 Lancaster ( A reall [banghead] to build ), also when Revell released there 1/72 Bomber fleet they also released a 1/72 Lancaster, about as good as that horrible 1/72 B-17 they made. Its now on the market as a Revell of Germany product [xx(]
Rick,
The He-111 retails for $43 and the B-25 for $42 (not that you can’t find them for less). and the Lanc is easily a larger plane.
Now, the kicker is, Hasagawa’s other 4 engine planes retail for around $30 (B-17’s, P-3 Orion, Emily, Mavis). If they can bring it out for less than $40, I will probably get one.
She’s been dropping unsubtle hints about me building a Lanc since the BoB flight did a couple of very low overflights of our house one evening a couple of years back.
I just couldn’t face the Airfix offering!
Now we just need decent Ju88s and Do17/217s in 1/72.
