I am currently wanting to build the Israeli F-16I Sufa, but I’m unable to find any of the B or D versions of the Hasegawa kit. I’ve tried squadron, greatmodels, and evil bay with no luck. Anyone have any ideas as to where I might be able to find one of these puppies.
Between it and the F-15I Ra’am, I think my Israeli aircraft fascination will be complete until I get around to building a Kfir [:D]
Yeah I know it’s a D, but I could settle for a B version (also 2-seater) and do whatever scratchbuilding is necessary. My question was if anyone knew where the heck to find a B or D version.
Not quite correct. That kit is an F-16D Barak, not a Sufa. The Sufa is a Block 52+ F-16D, and the Barak is a Block 30/40 F-16D. The differences are quite substantial between the two. Hasegawa has never made a Sufa kit, only the Barak.
The Hasegawa B’s and D’s are really hard to come by. The best shot is to keep watching E-Bay for them. I was able to pick up two B’s but the price was high.
You may want to keep an eye out for the new Kinetic Vipers. A block 50 F-16D is one of the first to be released later this month in the Far East, and a Sufa is due later this year OOB for maybe $40-$50 by the time they are released here in the States with the fluctuations in the value of the dollar now. Here is the current thread on ARC (aircraft resource center) concerning the kits. An Israeli F-16D is also due in the future as well as lots of other foreign operators Vipers
It looks like the kits are close to the Tamiya Viper and ARC would be the place for hyper critical reviews of the kit and so far it looks good.
Here is the Kinetic website and the products planned. The 48th F-84F and 32nd F-86F are already released to pretty good reviews - especially for a new company
I’ve seen those sprue shots, and I’m not very impressed. They surely did backward engineer the Tam kit, but screwed up some things. Like the donut ring on the GE engine. They put striations in it, yikes! The feathers also looked sub par. I know it’s a test shot, so I hope they fix that. But we’ll see what we’ll see.
