Thanks PJ, ye, i was doing a little checking last night and have been able to find some photo’s. Fortunatly the guns are not even painted yet, so no harm done.

So i guess i better get my butt back into gear with this buld. I got the wheel bays painted with RLM 02 and Humbrol leather around the sides which was then dry brushed.

The inside of the radiator flaps also got a coat of 02.

After this i was able to get the wings and tail on and its now starting to look like a plane.

I have also been working on the canopy. When i bought this RB set, i thought it was just a PE frame to go into the kit canopy. But its not, its a complete canopy with PE for the frame and thin acotate sheet for the glass.I spraye dthe frame RLM 66 while on the fret, possably a bad idea as this might flake once i bent the PE.

And guess what, yep, it did. O well, nothing lost as i sprayed this at the same time as the pit. I have got the front and rear pieces fitted, they were a bit awkward but do look nice.

I also got the fuel pipe fitted after useing a piece of clear stretched sprue to replace the plastic piece for the clear section of the pipe.

And thats all for now. Next up will be to add the few last pieces, clean up some seams and get this to the paint booth.

Wow , that’s amazing work Bish. I bet bending the PE for the canopy frame was fun and you did it expertly. It looks incredably realistic as well.

Thanks Jay. It was a bit awkward, especially getting the curve right on the rear. I must admit i had not checked out the kit canopy when i bought this, and the kit one is rather nice, thinner than i had expected, but this is really nice and certainly worth the effort. The opening section really tops it off and i’ll be sure to get some proper pics of that as it goes together.

Looks great! Agree with your thoughts on the 'pit, just enough wear and a wee bit of grime - looks like a working bird, used but not abused. That canopy is going to be great !

Hey Bish… been a while my friend. But that’s my fault. You’re doing a great job on this bird. My favorite version of the 109. Best lines of the breed. probably 2nd only to the 190D-9 for fav German fighter. keep up the good works. But, of course, I know you will.[;)]

Very cool take on canopies. It does look good. I like the canvass dust covers inside the flaps too.

Thanks guys. Marc, good to see you, I was thinking we had lost you for a while. Tojo, ye, I think some of the methods work better here than they do in smaller pits. Joe, those are Eduard parts and they have some nice detail on them.

This is really coming along nicely. It’s great to see you build it, since I have a few 1/32 German planes, and I am just making the jump from 1/48, so I feel like I can definitely learn from this post.

Thanks BD. If this helps you in any way, then it will have been worth posting. I am not planning on making this scale a permanent thing, I love my 72nd to much, its just nice to have a few larger scale aircraft.
