Hasegawa 1/32 General Dynamics F-16A Plus / C Fighting Falcon kit# S25

Folks,

I was able to purchase the subject kit today at a contest. Have any of you ever built this kit? If so,

  1. What problems were encountered?
  2. What aftermarket items are available (decals, cockpit sets, etc.)?
  3. What are the good points of the kit?
  4. Got pictures of the finished model? J-Hulk probably has!![:D][:D]

Looking forward to your replies!!

I was almost gonna call up my godfather and ask him what he thought about the kit, but then I remembered that he’s a Falcon nut and an aerospace engineer and had decided to use the kit as a secondary reference for a scratchbuilt model… [:p]

That aside, it’s a decent kit but the base tooling is rather old; harks from the early 80’s. It has raised lines (some are recessed, I think) and I guess it has alotta problems, but if you don’t care about total 100% accuracy it’s probably just fine. It’s also the best game in town for a 32nd Viper.

Anyhoo, here’s some links that may, at the least, interest you if not actually help you out:

Barak - This guy built an Israeli Barak. I didn’t read through it but he may have some pointers on the basic kit.

F-16C - This fella built a Charlie, and although he doesn’t give any helpful info as regards construction, this may serve as a bit of inspiration.

Turkish F-16 - This guy knows F-16’s. I haven’t read this article too thoroughly but I get the impression that it will be very helpful to you when it comes time to build the kit. He did a dang nice job…

Turkish F-16 - …aaaand in case you wanna read the same article in Turkish! [:p] There may be some different photos on this page, but I’m not sure. ALSO, there’s some things he had to do to the kit to represent features which are only on Turkish F-16’s, so watch out for that stuff.

Fade to Black…

Thanks, Black Wolf.
