Hasegawa 1/200 Space Shuttle Orbiter w/Boosters for Display.

I’ve been quite fortunate in my photography career in that I’ve met and photographed many people and things related to space, aircraft and motor racing which all are passions since childhood. Having already shot the Space Shuttle and 747 carrier in the Approach and Landing test and transportation configuration, I later on assignment met and conversed with Astronout Joe Engle who flew the tests and later flew the 2nd and 24th Space Shuttle. He was also one of the X-15 test pilots. He was also a really nice guy and answered all of my continuous questions. LOL!

To make a long story short, I needed a Space Shuttle and X-15 model to display with the picture in my office. 1/200 scale filled the space and I choose the Hasegawa. I’ve already shown the picture and X-15 on the Forum and here’s the Shuttle. My comments on the model are that the base is incomplete and is only a needed stand. Looking back I should have painted the cast white parts with white paint because they look a little, well, Plastic. lol. I mixed my own orange which is way too bright but overall the model did fill the bill as a display model. 1/200 scale is hard to imagine on large subjects so I included a hand shot for comparsion. It was fun to photograph and I tried to include views going away as we used to see it. Check it out I always say,

Max

Thanks for sharing. Beautiful model. Glory days, back when we didn’t have to hitchhike into space.

You know what I noticed right away was how the prange really made the rest of the model stand out, even maybe look “whiter”. I like the contrast.

Hey Max, you did a nice clean job on this build. It looks really nice, and nicely photographed too.

Good job, sir.

Steve

Hey thanks Steve! Yikes, that orange looks brighter everytime I look at it! lol!

Max

You amaze me by your repertoire in modeling. This build is not only beautiful, it’s amazing!

Toshi

That looks amazing! I think you are right about the orange, but it looks great nonetheless !

Great…now I’m going to have to get one of these!

Hi Max,

I like the model, and even more the story behind why you built it. What an interesting career.

Scott

Could you please tell us more about the 1/200 X-15 model? Thanks!
