has tamiya lost there mind's?

Dragon’s prices are cheaper because their production cost is cheap, I mean they can pay less for their employer. Anyway, Tamiya’s prices in Indonesia are cheap at several store, I can get Tiger I Mid version and Jagdpanther late version about $25 each kit

Build an AMT/ERTL kit, after which you will be very happy with Tamiyas quality.

To be honest I am actually wondering how Dragon would fare without all their extra goodies that they are including like PE, Metal barrels, Indie tracks, etc.

Would the quality of their kits than still be considered better than Tamiya even at the lower price??

I don’t build a lot of kits, but when I do, I’ll check to see if Tamiya makes a kit of the subject. I totally dig that company.

Hi,
I still believe Tamiya knock out some quality kits but I too have looked elsewhere for other manufacturers. Not because I think Tamiya are on the slide but because other companies offer a bit more variety to their subjects and too the medium used within the kits.If I can buy a kit for a reasonable price and it already includes PE,resin, white metal and the quality is good then I will buy.Tamiya have and still will for years too come supply some very high quality kits and I will still buy them I just wish they would diverse a bit.
Simon.

lets hope that the move outside japan wont diminish their quality.
(no offence to chinese or philippino people) but the Made in Japan label is a guarantee for quality.

Agreed. Still wondering when Dragon and Trumpeter will start increasing their prices.
China right now is a major growing economy, maybe comparable to Korea and Japan a few decades ago.

Right now China has replaced the US as the No. 1 trading partner with Japan< I foresee cheaper prices(trade agreements) for the japanese(asian) market sooner than for the US or European market.

like i said. i to have been a tamyia nut for years and i have alot of there kits. but i’m not maid of money all i am saying is give us a little more detail on there older kits. i bought this kit tinking it was the new one and got a shock to find it was the old one. and when your a disabled vet or person you don’t have money to waist. J-hulk somed it up for me thanks again J-hulk and everyone else.

The latest Tamiya kits are so " clean " it is not even funny .
this is regarding the sprue parts , you hardly have to clean a thing up on any of thier latest parts , no flash at all on my kits !

Also they always seem to put the ejector pin marks in the right locations , unlike dragon .

I really don’t understand this 1/48 thing they(Tamaya) have going on now , I only hope it is not the way they choose to go in the future , as they are already the kit that all are judged by as of now .

Dragon is a definate tie in this bracket at the very least , and this latest 3 in 1 series may take them to the top , although I have no idea how they can make a profit on this latest tiger kit with all the added pieces !

Dragon is the better buy to be honest , and the latest series kits are incredible .

They have some flash mind you , but they are nice models out of box .
