I had to recently order a replacement part (tail stabilizer) and was just curious how they handle these requests. Do they just send that one part, or do they send the whole sprue that the part is on?
I did earlier this year . I did a huey build . The small door handles , . I lost them in the carpet . I went to there web site .filled out the forum . Day or so later . I got an e mail confirmed the order was process . About 4 weeks there it was in the mail box I hope that helps Rick
Weird. I kept getting “Invalid Request”. Contacted Customer Support and they said I need to mail it in w/ the cut out UPC. Jokes on me… I already tossed the stupid box.
Their customer service is great, I’ve had to order replacement parts several times to replace parts on models I’ve gotten at raffles and it usually takes 3-4 weeks. I just got one in the mail earlier this week and I can’t remember what model it goes to.[:O]
First time was for replacement Shuttle fuel tank halves that had been warped during manufacture.
Second time was for replacement decals because I accidentally damaged the sheet; ’ I offered to pay for the replacement but Revell sent the decals to me at no charge.
yes twice. great service takes 4-6 weeks to get the part. ordered a left side part and got both left and right second time and just the single larger part the first time.
This brings up a wider issue with me-. very small parts that are extremely easy to lose, like tiny PE pieces. Some mfgs do provide extras of these, some do not. I sure appreciate those mfgs who do, and wish others would follow the lead. I cannot remember Revell offering anything with PE, but some of their recent kits do have really tiny styrene pieces ( I guess newer molding technologies allow this). It would sure promote good will if mfgs provided duplicates of these small pieces, especially tiny clear pieces, next to impossible to find if they fall on the floor!
I too had spilled a can of Coke on a Revell-Monogram Avenger (ancient reissued kit) decal sheet and they replaced it for free. I forgot about that.
The part they sent me when one was damaged was a clear canopy for a 1/48 AV-8B Harrier. That kit came with a book and a resin nose for a night fighter version. The heavy resin nose was loose in the box and busted the canopy.
With tail firmly tucked between my legs, I’ve humbly asked them for replacement parts for things that I’ve either lost or simply screwed up. Much to my surprise, they’ve always sent me the replacement parts no matter what the reason. Normally, they’ve sent me a section of the sprue which contained the part I needed along with some other parts along with it.
Spitfire, I hope they’re able to send you the parts soon!
UPDATE: I submitted the replacement part request through the Revell website last week on the day that I posted this thread. It arrived in the mail yesterday. It was just the part of the sprue that contained the requested part. So there you have it, if you ever need a part from Revell don’t hesitate to order it, that was very fast service.
You just have to beware of the shipper!! I purchased a ROG Audi T10 TDI from my LHS a while back. I didn’t notice that the box was opened until I got home. When I got it home, I opened it up to find the body tub and under tray missing! Since I knew they had a good spare parts policy, I ordered these parts, and waited patiently for them to arrive. When the box got kicked off the BigBrownTruck, one side was split open and the box was empty.
Oh well, I was going to use the kit to build it up with the Scale Motorsports detail kit, so before I ordered another R10 kit, I figured I’d get the Scale Motorsports detail kit in to see what it contained. It came with a new resin body and under tray anyway, so there was no need for those spares.
Yup, that sounds like my experience with them as well… About a week after the part is ordered, you have it in your grubby little paws! Their customer service is to be commended!
