halftrack tracks

I have one of Tamiya’s US halftracks that I build a while ago. I would like to redo it, but I don’t like the tracks they’re to loose. What I would like to know are there are some aftermarket tracks out there that fit better, or is there some other fix to this problem.

Would it be possible to remove a track link or two to tighten them up a little?

A company by the name of AFV club makes some pretty good AM tracks for american armour , I am not sure if your vehicle is there , but I would guess it would be Try http://www.greatmodels.com in the maufacturers link to the left go to armor accessories well you know the rest , keep in mind with this company however if it is not in stock you may have to wait a bit for it . Good luck in your hunt .

wqhat i did was cut the connector ends off and tie with thread the ends together. works

i dont think theres any aftermarket tracks for it
they were rubber band track in real life anyway so you might have to do as warmongers pointed out

Tank Workshop made a set of resin tracks for the M3 halftrack series. I saw them at a local store in 2002, but passed them up. They did not look too good and would have been a PITA to work with.

AFV Club does not make US halftrack tracks. They do have US light tank and German halftrack tracks in their product line though.

I have used the Tank Workshop resin tracks,as Rob says they can be a PITA.You just have to take your time.I used both hot water and a hair dryer for final shaping. They are basically just resin copies of the kit tracks,IIRC I had to shorten them also for a good fit.The set has replacements for the drive sprockets and idlers. They take a lot of cleanup but are a definite improvement over the lumps of plastic Tamiya gives you.Happy modelling!!!

Thanks for the help. It looks like I’ll have to try warmongers idea. If that fails I know I can always try Tank Workshop.
