Am I correct in assuming that all modern bombers are painted this color? If so, what would be Tamiya’s best match? Thanks
RadMax8;
try XF-24 for Tamiya paints, if you need a listing?, I’ve been working on the FS cross referance between all model paint manufacturers & FS, I could E-mail it to you but as of now it’s still incomplete
I painted my B1-b in gunship grey ,
I used the humbrol 125 gunship grey , but I saw on the Hannants site that Tamiya do a gunship grey
are you using the 2bobs seek and destroy decals ??
I don’t have the decals yet… low budget and all… but im thinking about fox one. I’ve heard twobobs a lot lately though…
oh and cuda if you could send me a copy of that i’d like it very much!
Don’t know the nearest Tamiya colour, but if you’re using acrylics, the best choice is the Polyscale FS36118 ‘Gunship Grey’, its as near to the real thing as it gets.
Just thought I’d throw this out. When I lived in Fort Walton Beach I had afriend that worked on the AC 130 gunships, he did some of the nose art, and helped repaint the aircraft. For touchups they used spray primer, right out of the can, and it was identical to the color sold at Wal Mart fot 99 cents. He swore up and down thats what they used. I cant speak for the other birds, but the AC 130s were spot on for the cheap Wal MArt paint. I took my model of the 130 to the Armament museum and they matched perfectly.

RadMax8;
have you gave me you E-mail addy?, I’ve sent out a few lists but I can’t remember if you got one or not
I’ve heard a similar story from regarding touch-up work on SH-60s. So I went to Wally World to look for this paint and no joy! [:(] I didn’t see any spray paint for 99¢. I’d love to give this a try; can you be more specific about this paint; how it’s labeled?
And do they have a Spectre at the Armament Museum now? It’s been a few years since I was down that way but I may be in the panhandle area this fall.
yep they do. The Wally World paint is the cheap stuff in a blue can with a primer colored lid. Its thier house stuff I just cant remember the brand now, sorry. I usually find it next to the more expensive paints in the hardware section.
The AC 130’s been there for about 4-5 years now

Air Mobility Command Grey is supposedly what all or most military aircraft are painted. you can find it by ModelMaster paint.
