Gun and Transport Group Build-up?

i’m definitely up for it, but will probably need more time[V].
i’m in the pearl harbour group build (wingy thingy[:p]), doing a battle of britain spitfire (yes, another wingy thingy[:0][:p]), still got to weather my panther from that group build, and haven’t even started my sherman firefly!![V]
shermanfreak is going to, well, freak when he finds out!![:0][B)]

nick

loooove the idea [:D] , how about a small one? a steyr raupenschlepper pulling a nebelwerfer ?

Sounds like just the ticket. Or perhaps a jeep pulling a small allied AT gun? Anyone remember the old Monogram kit of a Jeep and, what was it …? Memory is fading.

I wonder if DUKW’s ever towed guns once they’d hit the beach? What a great opportunity to build Italeri’s beautiful kit.

Perhaps some of the Britons on the board would want to build up their own truly superb Royal Ordnance L118/119 which performed so well in the Falklands. Is it available as a kit in original British config, or only as the M119 (US version)? Or built in US config, that gun can be towed by a M1069 HMMWV. How easy would it be to convert one of Tamiya’s humvee’s to a M1069?

Monogram’s jeep towed a 37mm.

Can we make this a Transport and or Gun Build? I would just like to build a gun.

How about:

  1. Towed gun, or
  2. Towed gun plus transport?

I mean, not just transport. The towed gun’s gotta be in there.

Larry, I know Dukws hauled them in on their backs but I don’t know about towing … I’ll have a looksy at my dukw book tonight and see what it says…

So any artillery piece that could be towed by halftrack or whatnot would qualify? If so count me in.

Hmmmmm. Another group build. Sounds like a good idea. He-he-he.

Hey that would be pretty cool it would be a welcome change from the tanks I’ve built
[?][?] Can the gun be AA or not?

As long as the gun could be towed, it would seem to qualify ddayomaha.

But of course, my friend! If it’s a towed gun, it’s in!

Ummmm…
Would a partially complete CMP Ford FAT/25pdr be allowed?
It stalled and I need motivation!
(Robert probly wants to see it done too.)

Nick, both ESCI and Italeri produced a kit of the Nebelwerfer in 1/35th scale some years ago. The ESCI came with a winter clad crew, but the figures were pretty aweful. From memory, the plastic was also very soft and a little hard to work with.

The Italeri kit did not have a crew but came with some spare rounds, as well as the rocket ‘ends’ to represent the rocket tails sticking out the end of the launcher unit. Typical older Italeri kit, looks pretty good when built, but can be used as a great base to build up from. (I have seen an old mag which had an article where a guy super detailed this little kit using brass tube, wire and styrene, etc. It looked superb, but sadly that mag was borrowed so I don’t still have it). I doubt the Italeri one is still available as a catalogue item, but Evil Bay may turn one up eventually. I have one, but intend to use it myself one day.
