I’ll be building a F-14D Super Tomcat by Revell at 1/48.
Wow, that’s an awfully short period of time for a group build! [8D]
Very interesting though. Grumman has to be my all-time favorite aircraft manufacturer, partly because it built the F6F Hellcat (my favorite warbird) and also because my grandfather worked there from World War Two up to the Space Age. If anyone wants some background reading on the company for this build, I highly recommend “Grumman: 60 Years of Excellence” by Bill Gunston. It goes in chronological order from the time of Naval Biplanes to the forward-swept winged X-29. Great read.
I’m working on my P-51D Mustang right now, but perhaps soon I’ll start on an F8F-2 Bearcat or F6F-5N.
i wasn’t sure how long to make it so i changed it to october, is this a better time limit or does it need to be longer, this is my first group build
Really nice idea Gunney. Grumman made lots of interesting planes. Too bad I am already too heavily committed to other builds, or I would be in with an F-7F or A-6E. Good luck anyway, I’ll keep watching the thread.
Sounds good Gunney, what’s your definition of “modern”?
Sorry should have been more specific. From 1990 to present.
Oh verrry modern. That leaves pretty much Tomcats, Intruders and Prowlers. OK. Any chance of twisting your arm to go back a few years?
Sure how bout 1975- to present
How about making the end date in December or January so some folks can work on the Hasegawa Toms. Thanks
Hmm. 1975 to present. I think I’m out then, I only do prop planes.
Hey Bbaer,
FWIW, You could do a Hawkeye or Tracker, or civilian Widgeon, Goose, or Albatros.
Think I’ll tackle a Tom or Prowler though.
