Greetings from the frigid north(sort of). I am Anthony, a married twenty seven year old who has enjoyed buidling models since I was six. I love science fiction and WW2 aricraft as well as research aircraft.
Right now I am building a Krote from the S.F.3D/Ma.K 3000 series, but I am also researching the PBY-6A. I plan to build a 1/48 version from the Revell-Monogram kit. I look forward to getting into discussions about different tips and techniques for building different models. Look forward to hearing from you all

Alaska must be a great place to live and be a modeler! All those winter months to get stuff done (lol). I’ve never been there but hope to oneday. I work in general aviation and have heard that there are airplanes all over Alaska, mostly on floats. Is this true of the area that you live?

Thank you! Alaska is a great place to live, and I do get a lot done over the winter. Only problem is that there are very few hobby shops, so I have to get most of my stuff through mail order.
But that is O.K., places like Squadron, and souces like the internet make up for it.
As to general aviation, it is true, airplanes are everywhere!!! Sometimes it is called the Alaskan Taxi. Over half of Alaska is only accessible by plane or boat. Everytown has an airport, including my hometown. And a majority of the planes are on floats, or are dedicated seaplanes, like the Grumman Goose. The only way to reach the fishing hotspots is by floatplane. There is a lake near where I live that has a dedicated floatplane harbor, and near the Anchorage international airport is a place called Lake Hood, which is another Floatplane airport. This in the biggest city in Alaska! That is partly where I get my love of floatplanes! Hope this anwers your question.
