Grease (movie) White Lightning

This is made from Revell’s 48 Ford convertable kit. The movie Grease is the basis of these pair of cars. I did the before and after version. the final version is called White Lightning (the red one is Grease Lightning fwiw), i named the before version ‘Greasy Lightning’. Greasy lightning body was damaged resulting in both doors being melted away from the body, so this version was ideal way to recover the model. the doors are foil molded off the other one and back filled with body filler. it was then weathered and beat up as appropriate. The white was pretty much stock build apart from a few mods to movie correct, such as the rear number plate and front bumper. The grille is off a 49 mercury. Lightning decals are actually bare-metal foil cut up with scissors and was very hard to do.

This is the planning of the graphics

and the final results with the Greasy Lightning.

Here is a comparison of Greasy Lightning

Love 'em both.Thanks for posting.

Very nice!!!

I don’t get to wander into the auto forum often, but I’m glad I did this time, those are great looking builds!

I’m totally an armor guy, but, I’ll admit, growing up I did put together quite a few car kits…

Grease is my favorite movie of all time…[#dots] Go ahead, laugh.

I think this is a great idea, really interested to see more and great work on the lightning bolts!!! Curious if you plan on putting any figgies with the vehicles? Not sure if they make alot of scale '50’s figures?! But, that would make a great dio!! Well, with whatever you do…I’ll be sure to stop in and check your progress from time to time.

GO GREASE LIGHTNING!!!

time for an update. i’ve added the red pinstriping to the lightning, which really adds to it’s hot rod look.
