grass help

Hi there
Can any1 help me. Im looking to make a section of grass for my dio and was wondering the best way to make it or if not make it can u get this in hobby shops.

Im looking at a plain of grass rather than small tufts everywhere.

Thanx for the help guys.
Much appreciated

Keep well.

Static Grass from Woodland Scenics works pretty well, especially if you mix more than one color. Woodland Scenics also makes field grass which works pretty well also.

You can buy both these items in most Hobby stores that carry trains.

Good luck on your Dio

ddayomaha just answered. I would have said the same thing.

i like verlindens summer grass. it looks great.

Just posted pic of my M41 on a base. The grass is “Blended Turf” the tall weeds are “feild grass” and the bushes are “Bunch Shrubs”, all from Woodland Scenics.

Try also scenics, including grass mats from Heki and Noch, carried at most model railway stores.

If memory serves me Noch even do a spray on grass.

hi artorius,or you can use static grass mixed with dryed moss (i’m put the stuff trough a small coffeeblender first) and after the ground is coverd and dry , airbrush it with different tones of green (and if you like a spot of yellow)

Hi there
Thanx for all the help. There is 1 problem though. I dont think i would be able to get most of that stuff here in SA.(Its a mission just to find armour kits let alone scenery) but i will try and find a shop that does.

Thanx anyway for the help. Appreciate it.

Keep well.

You mave to use dried crushed and ground plant material of your own making. You might can used crushed dried flowers. Grind up the parts of the plant that are in the color you need. If you have an airbrush you can spray it. Finely ground oregano may work and your dio will smell delicious!LOL

You can try with fine saw dust and then give it washes with different green, olive and yellowish tones. Works well depending on the scale, for big scales I wouldn’t recommend it.

Hudson & Allen also have good products.
