Soon to be added to the 'Waiting to be built list", the Horton Ho229.
Anyone built one of these before?
So far the only kit I have found is from Dragon, and I reckon the A version looks better than the B.
Weathering shouldn’t be a problem, considering it never really flew, be a nice change to do a ‘shiny new one’
Not as famous as the Northrop N9, but at least it was first.
I built one years back in 1/48 I believe (easy build-nice detail). Dragon makes nice airplane kits-Dornier Arrow, Henschel Salamander and Mistel, Arado Blitz. If you like Luftwaffe '46 planes also check out Huma models from Germany (esp the Treibefluegel).
Its a nicely detailed kit. I built mine with the wings detachable (interior structure & cannons are viewable this way). Buckles are provided for the belts, which you have to make yourself. The version I got had both Jumo 004 engines plus PE parts.
If you want the wings attached, I would suggest gluing them. The pins that are provided to hold the wings in place just don’t work.
Lots of great interior detail on a very unusual bird. I’d build it again !
Yes it did fly, but it was a case of too little too late.
Imagine the mayhem it would have caused the Allies, coming up against a machine nudging 900 km/hr!!!
Gotta hand it to the Germans, they really knew how to invent things.
Swanny I built the HiPM 1/48 kit a few years ago. Its one of over 100 that got damaged when I moved. Still haven’t found all the pieces yet ! I posted a pic of the “nightmare” of masking the glazing, and posted this pic of it. I’ll provide a link, so I don’t post one of my pics on another’s thread.
Swanny, it’s the HiPM 1/48, like Pix’s version, just a different colour scheme.
Like Pix said, the greenhouse they call a canopy was a total pain to mask off, lots of Tamiya tape and a sharp knife blade or seven!
Since that photo was taken someone’s curious fingers dropped it and fractured the canopy seam and around the 3 windows. Haven’t had a chance to repair it yet.
I do have a couple of photo’s which I’ll post as soon as I find em.
