Got a crooked seat in the Cockpit, HELP!!!!

I was putting together the cockpit to my Tamiya 1/48 F4U-2 tonight, and noticed that the seat leans a little to the left. The problem is, that it is pretty noticable in this scale. I don’t know what to do, as everything has been fully painted, weathered, and flat coated. I’ve read about dipping the piece in warm water, but I used Acrylic flat coat, and sludge wash for the weathering, and am worried that it will wash it all away. To complicate matters, the seat is resin, while the base it is attached to is plastic. I think that the seat itself is warped a little as the frame that attaches to the plastic back looks pretty straight. I’m at a loss, and am worried about breaking it. Any suggestions would be most appreciated, thanks ahead of time.

Kik - What glue did you use? There are some CA debonders out there, but they tend to be rather thick, and may not get into the tiny areas they need to.

One other trick I’ve heard of is to put it in the freezer. This works with plastic to plastic bonds, but I don’t know how the resin would react. It may become too brittle itself.

All I can think of, sorry.

Heath… I think if it were me, I would remove the seat, make whatever adjustments are required for it to sit straight, and reinstall it. There doesn’t appear to be many more options than that…?

Take care,
Frank

If all else fails, turn it into a dio of and egress maintenance crew working on the seat. Of course I’ve never worked egress, so I don’t know how that would look, but if you get enough bodies in the way, who’s going to notice a crooked seat

You guys are all killin me!!! I just noticed that the whole assembly kinda flexes, and the seat sways with it. It just seems to want to naturally curve to the left. Hopefully, I can “flex” it into place!!! LOL
