Good source for current steath cockpit photos and references??

I’m looking for any reference photographs of the F-117A in particular. I’ve got a few books and seen some shots online of a YF-117A test plane but the current configuration is changed quite a bit since then. I’ve gotten only a couple small shots showing the general layout on the modern F-117A’s looking in from outside the cockpit and at a slight distance. What I’d be most interested in would be a complete layout and schematic if available as well as color plates showing actual details.

Anyone aware of a website or book that could offer this? I know they’re available for older aircraft such as F-4’s etc. but I have no idea what the availability is for newer more “secret” planes like the F-117A.

Thanks!

I’m not a big fan of F-117’s so I really don’t know where else to look, but have you tried the Air Force Museum? If you have, you’ve already seen these photos.

These are the best I could find. Right click on the images and select properties to see the webpages they are from.

Anythng more detailed (schematics etc.) is probably still too top secret.

Yep. The ones on the AF museum site are all the old test plane - not the current configuration. The second set I have already and while they give a reasonable idea of the main panel, I’m also interested in the side and wall panels. The middle shot I’m told, is a simulator, and was also before the installation of the full color moving map display in the center. I’m not too certain if this would change it’s outward appearance though. Thanks for the effort guys…

uillean,

I have a book called “NightHawk - F-117 Stealth Fighter” by Paul F. & Allsion J. Crickmore. It has quite a few cockpit photos in it. I picked it up at a half-price sale at a bookstore somewhere. I don’t really need it anymore. Wanna trade something for it?

Sure. But I don’t know of what I have will strike you as worthy of the trade. The only kit I own right now that I haven’t started working on is a Revell/Monogram 1:32 Hawker Hunter FGA9. It’s the one from their “ProModeler” line with something like 170 pieces and the largest decal sheet I’ve ever seen!

The box has been opened - well, long enough for me to exclaim something *#@!% under my breath at how complex it looked, and promptly box it up again!

If you’d like it, and consider it a fair trade, I’d be happy to send it your way. It looks like mine is the English version (kit# 85-4670) without the option to add the parts (maverick missles etc.) or decals to model the Hunter F.58 in the Swiss Air Force found in the original German release.

It does appear this kit has been discontinued. Going rate seems to be about $38.00 - $57.00 depending where you look. I’ve actually been looking at the book you mention and it seems to average about $11.00 for soft, and $21 for hard cover. It seems the paperback is 96 pages and the hardcover 192 pages - almost twice the size! Which one do you have?

Thanks again…

Brian~

Think you could find and throw in the Squadron F-117 Walk-around book as well? [:)]

Brian,

I have the 192-page paperback. I didn’t know it was released in hardcover. As far as the Hunter…nah. Thanks anyway, though. If you’d like, I can sell you the book that I have for $7 + shipping via US Mail. I think I paid $14 for it at the bookstore about 2 years ago. Let me know. No hurry.

no f-117 here, but i do have a couple u-2 cockpit photos from 1999.[:D]
