Just wanted to say what good people modellers are. A while ago I posted a thread about the unavailability of Future here in Poland. A member from New Jersey. Bill Barber,a Pacific war veteran sent me an E.Mail saying that he had bought a bottle and it was on its way to me!!! We got talking and I discovered that he was looking for a kit of the WC51 truck he drove during the war.
I looked in Warsaw and found the AFV kit which had just been re-released and sent it to him as a X-Mas gift and a thank you. We now correspond regularly and he is now sending me the Lindberg kit of the Jolly Roger. Although a pensioner he refuses to accept any payment and will return any payment I send.
I just wanted to post it here that Bill is a gentleman and I hope to help him again soon in return.
You hear and read so many bad and sad things about people these days that it is nice to give praise to the unsung heroes…
Maybe modellers should get into politics.
That’s a good story, Jim. This is certainly a friendly hobby as far as my experience goes.
Matt
Absolutely!
Similar story: after hearing my lament about the absence of Future here in Japan, good ol’ Therriman sent a bottle of the shiny stuff my way, along with some other goodies. We did some trading, but I am still in his debt. Good guy, that Therriman!
Plenty of good folks here at FSM.
great storys of great peaple
funny how this thread is so evident throughout the fsm community. maybe not funny maybe that is what makes us so much like a family. all are so willing to share information, help, instructions, parts, etc. proud to be a part of such a great group of people.

Yeah this forum has a good many goods guys. Robert(Shermanfreak) sent me nearly 2 dozen 1/35 grenades when I was trying to replace 2 that had been last in my move from home to college. The best reward we can give these guys is praise and try to return the favor or “pay it forward” to someone else. Each time someone comes up missing something or needing it replaced I check my box of bits from models it that have gotten scrambled and won’t be built, in case.
Ditto, lots of great people here!

Shermanfreak is definitely one of the GOOD GUYS here. One time I was asking him about how to make an M4A2 out of any available M4A2 chassis like Italeri M32 or Academy M-51. He gave me some tips and told me that he has an extra 76mm turret and that he will send it to me. And he won’t let me pay him back even for the shipping. When the turret arrived…it even came with an amphibian kit which he said was his present for me.
What a guy. I can’t thank him enough.
THANKS SHERM and to all the other good guys here.
Speaking of good deeds, way back, Moses sent me some Tamiya Tiger tracks free of charge(certainally indebted to him) and Dwight a sig which I need to post and Bill for listening to all my whinning and helping in matters. I have corresponded with many members and must say there are a great bunch of people here. Hope to meet some of you in the flesh someday.
I have spent many a night chatting with Ed (Keyworth), Robert (shermanfreak), and the Erics [;)]…they are all great guys and we’ve had some pretty good conversations. I call them my modeling support group…and I have learned a lot from all of them.
The good deeds of modelers extends beyond FSM as well…I have had people I’ve bought models from on ebay send me extra stuff that wasn’t originally in the bid…one person I bought decals from had apparently not crossed me off his list and sent me a second copy of them…I ran to the computer to let him know I’d send them right back-- he said to keep them- and I ended up giving them to someone from here… even Mike Grant sent me some great Hamilton Standard prop decals for free-- I still don’t know why-- but I plan on going to him whenever I need custom decals.
Looking forward to maybe meeting a few modelers at next month’s show in Plattsburgh.
[:D]Modelers are ussually good people and I am proud to know a few of you guys! This is the one hobby where you can grow not only on your skills, but as a person. The trick is to make friends. And the normal person isn’t going to have the patience to sit through a whole build, that makes us a step apart! Modelers are unique and most of them are great people!!! I agree fully, we are all good people![:D]
Hey, coment… Shermanfreak… he is an excellent guy, not good!
Also there is the rest of the guys in the Darkside who are always ready to give information in terms of links, pics and do research on a particular subject without asking for something in return.
These are great guys.
IT THESE GUYS THAT MAKE THIS SITE THE COOLEST AND THE BEST!!!
perfect description.

A very uplifting story Jim, thanks.
There are some really nice people on this forum who are willing to share things with others without question. That to me shows real character.
My hat’s off to you people here on FSM. You guys are the best.
Mike
There are good guys here at the FSM forum, it is really like belonging to an extended family. You may never meet any of them in real life but you know they are here, willing to help and all you have to do is ask.
As I have said before, being a member of the FSM Forum is like belonging to a world wide modelling club.
Yep definitely one of the best if not THE best on the net or any where else I have found.
The sharing of information is exemplarary and greatly apprediated as well.
Cassibill sums it up nicely.
Praise and pay it back or pay it forward to someone else who needs it at some future time.
Well said adn my thoughts exactly.
Cheers, Pete…
Without using any names I can think of three members that have mentioned some tough breaks and it was very heartwarming to see so many members rally around them. True, very few of us have met face to face, but the comradry is there among the members. You’d swear so many of us have known one another a lot longer than is the case. This is a great support group. There are some truely classy individuals here.
Not only have I had many great experiences with people in this forum: I have never had a negative experience with anyone here.
This is how I fell about you all: [bow]

I’ve learnt more about moelling in the last 8 months as a result of this forum than I could have hoped to learn in 8 years without it.
And that is all down to the forum members, who also seem to have the answer, no matter how obscure, or just plain dumb the question.
