I usually mix in some Tamiya Buff with some Elmer’s glue and sand to make dried mud, but I am making a diorama with a King Tiger in darker wet mud. Any suggestions on what paint color represents wet mud? I bought Pollyscale mud but it has a really odd, unrealistic look too it
jason, i’ve used model master dark earth before and it looked pretty fresh
buy some hudson and allen Muck. Great stuff. or try putting some future on a darker mud mix.
pollyscale seems to be for a lighter earth tone than what you’re probably looking for JWest. still, it has its uses…
Yeah, it does seem light. I picked up their “dust” too. I assume that couldn’t be too light
Just plain soil diluted in a water glue mix seems to work fine for me. The less water you mix into the glue the more “muddy” the mix looks when dry, and visa versa with more water. I like it because it’s free, except the glue part…
MM Dark Earth has always worked well…mix it with some Military Brown to get a more reddish tone or with MM Rust or Leather to get a deeper brownish tint.

I found a pretty nice mud color , it may be hard to find where you are . Model master " russian earth grey " looks just like fresh mud to me , airbrush it on and fade in some buff for the dried mud above .
Hey guys, I found this stuff on Ebay form a guy called Red Star Miniatures. Very high quality stuff and pretty inexpensive compared to MM Powders. He cut me a deal when I bought one of everything and the water effect he sells. He has a system that uses this stuff to make mud. I tried some on my Jeep and it rocks. (I am not affiliated with this guy at all). Do a seach for pigments on ebay and you will find his stuff. He also has a line of very nice figgys. I got all 6 colors and the wter w/ shipping for somewhere around $30.
