My younger brother has decided to start building armor… I gave him a crappy Revell P-51 (skill 2) and it convinced him to be a treadhead…but I digress, Whats a good beginner kit, preferably Tamiya?
I found the Tamiya T34/85 To be a good model. Nothing to complicated about it. Went together fairly quickly and no complicated camo pattern to paint on.
The T-34s are a good choice as is the Tamiya PzKpfw II F/G. If he’s a typical American youngster, he may prefer US Army vehicles. If so, I highly recommend the Tamiya M41 Walker Bulldog or M3 Stuart kits. While not highly accurate kits, they are inexpensive and easy to build.

I built Tamiya’s Panzer II as a beginner, and it was great. It fell together, had nice detail, was cheap and above all it was a tank! Has a range of finish options and good instructions, too.

Ive hear good stuff about tamiyas t 34/85 from begginers. my first model was a 1/72 M4 sherman by italeri. It was a pretty good kit to start with i think.

First of all, how old is he? If he’s too young, getting him a 1/35th scale tank may be a bit overwhelming and he should start with a smaller 1/72 scale tank. But if he’s old enough, though, then the above choices from Tamiya are great.

A Tamiya kit is a huge step in the right direction. The T34 would be an excellent choice.

I"d definitely go with the t-34/85. I picked one up for myself, but gave it to my younger brother. He’s loving it.

I asked him today and he wants to build the T-34/85
I would try to give him a Panzerkampfwagon IV with the short barrel. Tamiya makes that kit-it’s the one with the crewmembers that come out of the open hatches and it’s molded in dark grey. I built it and it’s fairly easy with rubber-band treads. It has a lot of wheels, but overall it’s pretty simple. Look at the link.
