Gluing resin models.

Googling shows that Super Glues or Two Part Epoxy are best for resin.

But those are not very good for complex parts. Super Glue is too quick when trying to assemble a Lancaster fuselage and Epoxy is just thick and stodgy.

So what do you use?

Superglue or epoxy, thats what I use.

If your epoxy is too thick & stodgy - you’re using too much. Less is more. A thin coat on each piece will be sufficient.

Try tacking the resin parts together with white glue (Aleene’s Tacky glue from the craft store) or tape the parts together with some masking tape. Then run a bead of superglue along the joint.

Thick and gel superglues have a longer working time. Try them too.

But as to what is used to assemble resin parts, you have two choices: superglue or epoxy.

Don’t forget to wash those resin parts with a suitable solvent based cleaner. Otherwise the pieces will continue to impervious to adhesives and paints.

I have had many bad experiences with regular superglue, and when I was younger glued my fingers together more than a few dozen times working with resin and photoetched parts.

Gel superglue is much easier to work with, slower drying time for needing work and you can still use accelerator with it. I have used JB Weld once to set a cockpit in place, works great but if you mess up with that stuff good luck trying to fix it, need a jackhammer to get that stuff apart.

When working with any superglue, accelerator and debonder are your friend. Don’t use superglue without it.
