Glueing Photo etched parts to plastic models

What type of glue is best for adding photo etched detailed parts to models?

The best? Cyanoacrylates (superglues).

I would recommend using a gel type CA glue. The work time is longer, allowing you to properly position your parts, especially if you don’t have alot of experience with PE (some of those parts can be teeny tiny). Pete

2-part epoxy glue also works well.

Ca with some accelerator works for me.

So then concevabley i could use a tube of Testor’s model glue, the one in the blue or red turb, to glue these pieces?

I’m thinking that Testor’s glue won’t work. It’s for plastic to plastic. You need epoxy or CA (superglue) to hold the metal to the plastic. Otherwise, you’ll get a mess and parts falling off your kit.

Are there nay brands of superglue that you guys would recomend?

“zap a gap” makes a great line of CA glues & accelerators including, thick, thin, slow, and in all different sizes. Also find them to have one of the few bottles to don’t clog as easily as other more generic brands.

I recommend Zap-a-Gap gel for this. It’s what I use, along with an accelerator called Zip-Kicker. You canplace a small amount on a small plastic or metal lid and then use a needle or something to apply small amounts to the part before placing the part on the model.

Should i be able to find this at my local hobby town? If not what other brands do you recomend?

They list them in their website, so I presume they sell them.
