What are peoples experiences with glue and planes. I understand the problems around clear parts. However, for a typical build, what do you all use and what is best for stability and small parts as well as fuselage and wings. I know th choices are the old testors (smell good) in the tube vs the range of cenments available int he bottles that glue your fingers together to epoxies. What do people standardly use?
I like to use Tenex liguid for most long seams, and Testors tube. For clear parts, I use Micro crystal clear. Last and least, super glue and 5 minute epoxy. Tenex does a pretty good job of melting the parts together and hiding seams.
I use either tenex or Ambroid (when I can find it). Testors tube is still a good bet , I’ll use that small parts that I want to stay put while I adjust it’s position.
i use revell contacta professional (has a syringe like applicator) for almost everything.
i tried with various super glues but don’t like the fact that if you mess up, that’s it, you’re toast!![B)][:0] i only tend to use it for v small bits or maybe tailplanes and the like; for big joints i’d rather use normal stuff and have to clamp it ie walk round the house for half an hour holding the plane in my “vice-like” grip![(-D]
crystal clear is ok, but it’s tough to apply and has only limited sticking power; if you dip your canopies in future, you can avoid the frosting issue anyway.[;)]
