Hello all, Ive been doing models for several years and came across a new tool that I thought I would share. Now granted some of you might know about it, however some might not. I was looking for a cheaper way (other than sticky putty) to hold parts down while painting one side of them. Low and behold while at the dollar store of all places I came across something called Glue Dots and thought I would give them a try. They worked out wonderfully. They are small round rubber type dots that hold extremely well, in most cases will not pull paint off of the other side, and the best part is they are only a dollar for a pack of 36 dots. Being alot cheaper and easier to work with than sticky putty I thought maybe someone else would like to give it a shot.
I use something very similar. I use one of those little plastic applicators that puts down double sided sticky tape. I have a short length of 1 x 2 that I keep on my bench. I put down a short length of that tape, and then stick the small part to the tape. I use that on my bench for brush painting, and also in the spray booth for spraying. I have to reapply strips of tape frequently, but the stuff is cheap and easy to apply.
I too picked up several packs of these at the Dollar Store with the idea of “somehow” using them in my modeling. I’ve not used them for modeling but have used them for other projects.
Just be careful with how you paint using glue dots (or as my wife calls them: “snot dots”). I used some to hold down some body parts of a car I was painting. I got a couple of passes over them with a spray can, and on the 3rd or 4th pass, the force of air out of the can blew the part off the mount where it, of course, promptly hit the ground upside down!! 
Jack thanks, I’ve always used dbl sided tape that I’d cut into pieces that fit the particular part but having a package or two of those on the bench is a great idea.
