Here’s a great diorama from master modeler Tatsuya Kaneko that was on display at the Shizuoka Hobby Show this past weekend (along with a million other great models!):
Ain’t that cool?
*I posted this pic in the SF and Figures forums, too, but I figured you dio builders would get a kick out of it, too!
Something I neverunderstood in sci fi movies though. Why with the range of artilery and tanks does the army always decide to wait till the monster is on top of them? Seems they would save on military spending if they stopped using their tanks as monster kibble. [;)]
Yup, the tarantula is from AMT’s “Gigantics” series.
I begged Tatsuya to do one with the scorpion!
The scorpion fighting the praying mantis would be very cool…
hehe, I love these kinds of dio’s. Such a different and interesting scene. I like the one you posted in the Aircraft forum, with the plane goind down into the ocean, and the airbrushed cotton for the flames and smoke. Definitely don’t see too much of things like that on this side of the pond [:)]
Mike,
Them sneaky bugs were always good at ground masking and have you ever watched one of these things move? If the size was right, they would cover a lot of ground before the military could runaway.
Also, they always seemed to be able to survive any number of bullets, shells, rockets, bombs, nucs, etc that could be thrown at them and keep on coming. Surprised the military never came out with an exoskeleton armor.
And finally. What fun would the movie be if as soon as they showed up, we bombed them, end of show[:D]

Mike, everyone knows that tanks in Japanese sci fi flicks are like lobsters: hard on the outside, soft and yummy on the inside [:D]
