RADIO CONTROL!!! lol im still donig 1/72nd scale stuff but i was getting boarde so i started looking through my old OS .15’s and ive decided to start scratch building a messerschmitt bf-109e-3 off the top of my head!
its has a 37in. wingspan and custom made plexiglass canopy i strted making today and i think im planning to make it a 3 channel model (throttle evlevator and rudder)
so i was just wondering… does anybody else fly rc on the forum???
I was actually thinking of posting that question myself. Aswell as scale modeling i also enjoy Radio control flying models !!! I hav’nt done much powered stuff but i use to do alot of slope soaring.I really miss it !!! The last plane i was flying was a sig. Ninja …a very nice little aerobatic glider !!! There was nothing more i enjoyed than to lye back in the grass on a warm Australian afternoon and fly my plane across a warm pink sunset !!!..mmmmmmm lying in the grass , warm pink… maybe theres one thing else i enjoy… opps , got to keep it clean here …
Your 109 sounds cool Duckman !!! post pics if you can . do you know any cool rc forums like this ??? P.s sorry if we’re a little of topic everyone .
PG gentlemen, PG. Although lying in the grass with warm pink does sound good…
I have considered getting into R/C aircraft but there is no way that I am going to spend 3-4 weeks building a model to see it destroyed in 5 secs when it crashes!Could not take that!
I love RC and fly all of power, electric and gliders - indoors and out. Don’t be afraid of crashing Philo just make sure you join a club and get an instructor to help you learn. A simulator (download the Flying Model Simulator FMS for free) can be very useful at getting to grips with the sticks! Have also built an RC boat for my nephews and .12 powered buggy great fun! Still, not getting much (read any) time to fly these days so my plastic modelling is taking over currently.
Currently in build however are a Sig Wonder OS25MAX power, and Aerotech profile spitfire SH32 power though I have touched neither for the best part of 6 months now. Also have a beaut little brushless motor for a depron 3D indoor biplane called Penultimate (free plan with RCM&E) and plans for both a 4metre wingspan Tandem Falke and 1/4 scale Tiger Moth. I just need more time and less work!
The following pic is of the “photo record” hanging in my workshop. You can just about make out some of my models (R/C and control line).
duckman,
I flew RC planes for about 12 years, I built and have flown gliders, stunt planes, jets, video camera ‘‘spy planes’’, and scale.
The loss of the local flying field has ended my flying for now but I have heard there might be another airfield available in my area soon.
I still have two of my RC models left, if you are interested I will take some pics of them and post them. One of my planes is a 4-Star .40 that has been altered to allow an O.S. .70 four stroke to be fitted for power, this plane has a take off run of only six feet and can climb straight up! I use a low pitch prop to allow the plane to land while the engine is at idle otherwise it would not be able to slow down enough to land on the runway.
This airplane also has a full Luftwaffe camouflage paint scheme airbrushed on it and the usual black and white spiral spinner.

matrixone, I would be interested in seeing those pic !!! …Peter.
Peter,
Its raining right now so no pics today but the weather is expected to clear tomorrow and I should be able get some posted Sunday.
There are so many changes I made to that 4-Star .40 that it is unrecognizable as such and the Luftwaffe paint scheme will be of interest to fans of the Luftwaffe.
