German Staff car model w skeletons old model ? help?

Hello, back in the 70’s I built a model of a German staff car in desert camo, in the seats were skeletons of the “general” and his driver… I think it came from the Revell model of the Month club… I have not seen one since… Does anyone have a clue who made this ?? any more info on it?? Thanks!

You’re probably thinking of Rommel’s Rod which was an old Monogram offering.

Interestingly, it will apparently be reintroduced by Moebius Models at some time in the semi-near future.

Yupper, “Romel’s Rod” is the kit you’re describing… Built that guy a couple times back in the 70s when I was in my “Motorhead” phase… Along with the Red Baron, Munstermobile, Grandpa’s Dragster, Garbage Truck, Paddy Wagon, Boot Hill Express, etc, etc, etc…

Might just have to pick one up if it’s re-released… (Scored a Red Baron Kit a couple months ago on Ebay, lol…) I love nostalgia builds…

The title of that kit is just begging for sarcastic responses.

OMG… What a trip down memory lane that was. Forgot I had built most of those.

I talked to Moebius at the IPMS Nationals this year. The guy I talked to said they’ve shelved the plans for re-tooling “Rommel’s Rod” due to irreconcilable differences with the owners of the rights. Too bad, they were planning on adding some detail to the running gear and improving the kit.

Probably why… Some works need to be left alone…

As an amusing addendum to this subject, one of these was sold on eBay for $295! When I first noticed it a few days back the bidding was at $50, and was thinking of putting in a bid, but after a day or two the biddding went way beyond what I was willing to spend.
